Hello; I guess I prefer blue, even though i've heard the spiel about corrosion resistance, but I've never seen what I would consider a nice finish on stainless. When it comes to wood or synthetic, what's the difference nowadays? I Haven't seen a nice piece of wood on a rifle manufactured in the last 20 years. It's all generic "hardwood". Grizz

I was surprised when stainless caught on. There is something funny to me about a guy in full camo, Scent-lok clothing, paying careful attention to the wind, trying to stealthily creep up on game while carrying the equivalent of a three-foot mirror in his hands. My objection to synthetic stocks is just that they don't remind me of anything, my youth, my early hunts, my dad, great experiences, nothing. If I was thirty years younger and never grew up with wooden stocks I would probably love synthetics.

Good point! Too bad only a few manufactures offer synthetic/blued rifles. Tikka and Savage come to mind as the few that will offer this choice. I just received my custom spoterized M98 back from the 'smith this past week and I might add that blued/synthetic looks pretty sharp. GordM
