All:

I have a meeting coming up in July in Vancouver, BC. I usually make it thru Vancouver 2-3 times a year as I commonly have research trials in the Okanagan Valley. But, I'm always there for work and never pleasure.

However, this time is different as the wife will be joining me. Therefore, can I get some tips on Bed and Breakfast locations that are nice in or around the Vancouver area? I've been thinking about taking the ferry over to Vancouver Island for a few days.

Also, tips on things to do are always nice!

Thanks,

Graybird

By all means get over to Vancouver Island if you can, its a BIG island so include more time if you can. The towns of Tofino & Uculet on the west coast used to be rustic fishing ports but are now very trendy w/5**** dining & prices to match. Port Hardy & Port Macneil on the east side are less pretentious. It depends what you're styles are. If you both like to catch fish...the salmon, halibut, & lingcod out of Port Hardy is world class. There's a commercial fish plant that will vacuum seal your fillets to take home with you. Enjoy, the people on the Island, like most Canadians, are very friendly. For really out-there adventure, consider the Queen Charlotte Islands for a future trip.

The ferry trip to Victoria on the south of the Island is worth the trip.

Victoria is an interesting older city, with lots of beautiful gardens. There is a neat "under sea garden" Where you walk down under the sea,in the "inner harbour" near the Parliament buildings. And the Museum is right close too.

We've decided to stay in Ucluelet for a couple days, then back to Vancouver for a couple days.

We're going to get a days worth of salmon fishing in too while in Ucluelet.

Thanks,

Graybird

In Vancouver, check out Granville Island Market. Great sights and smells ....smoked fish, salamis and wursts, coffees, breads and pastries. Tables on outer deck over water. Beautiful place.

Hi Graybird
The suggestion above is at Alberni half way across to Ucluelet would be fun and very interesting. If your wife likes gardens one of the best in the world is Butchart Gardens at Brentwood Bay half way between the ferry and Victoria.
Have a great time. Bill

Another great spot on the Island: Sproat Lake, on the way to Uculet/Tofino. Stop at the Duck & Pond Pub (it may be the Fish & Duck) for great burgers and beautiful views...
