This isn't an answer but I know of some very good 'smiths in Canada. Maybe you are having something special done though.

Talked to the firearms officer in Edmonton last week,no problem on the Can. end just make sure it's registered he did not know about the US.
Maybe contact BATF to find out

The ffl stae side has to apply for a BATF6 import form,even if its temporary
