maybe I missed it in another post, and I don't mean to be nosy (yes I do) but I was wondering what guns you are taking with you to the Selousand what you are going to hunt over there.

Its a 10 day 2-cape buffalo hunt, booked through Adam Clements, Safari Trackers. I am going with Don_G from this forum. We will be hunting 2x1 with PH Alan Vincent (who many will know of from Saeed's videos). We decided on 2x1 so that we both get to be in on each others buffalo (twice the fun!), and so that we can get some good video of each other.

I will be using a 470 Mbogo with 500gr Swift A-frames and 500 gr Bridger Solids. (see www.470mbogo.com if you are not familiar with the cartridge). I will have a 416 Taylor (with 400gr Swift A-frames) for back up and possibly incidental plains game.

Don will be using his 416 Rem Mag (with 400gr North Fork cup points) for one buff and a Bowtech Allegiance (approx 83lb peak draw and 870ish grain arrows) for the other.

Cheers,
Canuck

Are all of the rifles custom built. If so, on what actions and barrels.

They are all custom modified anyway.

My 470 Mbogo is built on a Ruger MkII magnum. It was a 416 Rigby that was re-bored to .475 and rechambered. Its actually the original 470 Mbogo. I bought it from the creator of the cartridge (Dave E.) a few years ago.

Here's a pic....470 MBOGO The pic is big, so I haven't set it up to diplay within the thread.

My 416 Taylor is built on a Browning BBR that was once a 300 Win Mag. It has a Douglas 1-12" twist barrel, finished at 23", and a Richard's Microfit laminate stock. Purists will especially frown on the 60deg bolt throw, 9 locking lug, push feed Weatherby-cum-Browning action. Smiler I don't care though...it rocks! Bill Leeper built it for me and did a hella nice job.

Don's 416 Rem Mag is a Win Mod 70 Classic with a Cutrifle Express barrel. The stories of it can be found on the Big Bore forum (as can mine). Don's rifle is pretty sweet.

Cheers,
Canuck
