Has anyone hunted black bear with Bucky Adams of Peribonka Lodge in Quebec? I talked with him this weekend at a sportsman's show and he sounded encouraging. A friend and I are considering a spring hunt. Comments would be appreciated!

LJ, I have used a guy in BC for Black Bear, and taken several friends there as well. BC doesn't have hunting over bail, which I have no use for. You drive logging roads and and glass clearcuts, and usually see 6-12 Bear a day. On our last trip, I took a 6'10" and my friend's was 7'. Small operation, so you won't see advertising in the shooting magazines. I've never had anyone strike out, and you can take a 2nd Bear for just the trophy fee. Some color-phase as well.

i lived and guided in Saguenay lac st jean and never heard about them (where they re operating) ...went on his website and seen only one reference in 8 years of ops ... this area is full of bears and not that much of hunters but you need to do your homework and check references but not only one especially if it was "guest" from an hunting show ...

all the best.

i must add too : do you love bear bait hunting ? and i want to see those huge monsters 400 to 500 lbs ???::::

I believe they are in the process of setting up their web thus the one reference of Joe Smith. I have requested a list of 2011 hunters.
British Columbia is a little too far. The gentleman I'm going with does not like flying so I'm stuck with eastern Canada.

Peribonka was owned/controlled by the owner of Ungava Adventures, Sammy Cantafio.

Adams is/was? a partner of some sort.All I know.

Did Caribou and several guys had hunted bear prior with Ungava at Peribonka when we talked in camp. All were satisfied with the area/lodge etc. when Cantafio was advertising for it.

Ljs,

dont limit yourself for 2011 references ....

now about the area i ll be very cautious for at least one reason the sizes given on the website seems huge and i doubt they re that big especially on the second camp where there is at least two other outfitters operating there plus the Ashuapmushuan preserve operation

and i will add Cantafio is maybe a good salesman but there is no more one million of caribous in northern quebec it s a shame but that s a fact ....

Don't know what the case is now. But at the time a few years ago, I had a great trip with Ungava.

Very well organised hunt and had terrific service, and everyone in camp (8) was very pleased.
