Looking at going next season with an outfitter that a friend has used the last 3 years and had great trips. My question is he has 4 sites with one being a "new area that hasn't been hunted" that is twice the cost of the others. Does this mean the others are subpar? I know Newfy isn't AK but 5k is still 5K. I want to be confident there's plenty of game at the sites that aren't 10k. Are the fly-in camps the way to go versus one that is "off the highway"? I don't really care about cushy lodging. Thoughts from those that have hunted there?

Really all depends. Fly in means less pressure and should result in more animals that are of older age classes. The off the hwy hunts can also be great but depends on the size of his territory and how determined you are ( and capable) to search out far reaching spots beyond what you can see from the road cut blocks. Lastly, if the price is actually double why not hunt the more affordable area with double the tags and double the time for the same price? Generally the more time one spends in the field translates to more opportunities and if your friend has had good hunts multiple times already.... Good luck nfl is awesome!

Beware that the new pole line cuts NL in half making most of what was only reached by fly in available to drive ins be it Argo atv or truck. My outfitter was fly in only but last season we had locals in Argos all over the area hence I am looking for a new outfit with remote areas to hunt. Most of this "never hunted before" land means locals could not access it before....but they can now,and do.
