Hey guys / gals,

I have made a copy of Saeed's video of his August 2006 hunting trip in LA1, Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania with Roy and Alan Vincent. The video quality is fantastic and there is tonnes of great hunting footage like last year.

If you want on the list, PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST CAREFULLY, ESPECIALLY THE RULES!!!

I will coordinate the the same kind of "share list" as we have done for the last 7 years or so. I only have one copy this year, and it has 4 double layer DVD's (ie. Volumes 1 through 4), so there will be just one list this time, unless we have volunteers to make extra copies (which it looks like we do!).

To get on the list, you have to PM me with your:
  • AR Display name
  • Real name
  • e-mail address
  • mailing address, and
  • phone number

For the record, the only rules to this free exchange are thus:

  • 1. When you receive the video, you e-mail me so I know you have it.
  • 2. I will give you the addy of the next guy on the list.
  • 3. You watch it as soon as possible out of respect for all the guys waiting behind you on the list.
  • 4. Feel free to copy the DVD for your personal use, but pass along the original.
  • 5. When you are done you send it to the next guy via Expresspost (or courier) and e-mail me the tracking number so that I know that its gone and so that you do not become the scapegoat if it goes missing.

Thats it....we don't ask much!

Last year (and the year before) we had a few newbies (and not-so-newbies) on the list and it went much less smoothly than in the past. AGAIN, please read the rules above CAREFULLY and make sure that you respect all the people behind you on the list by viewing (or copying) the videos quickly and moving them on.

Please take note of the fact that these are double-layer (DL) DVD's. Some of you may encounter some problems copying them. Also, DL DVDs generally cost about $7 CDN apiece, and there are 4 of them! So be warned.....We don't want to hear any excuses about why its taking so long to move them on when its your turn!!!

The list will generally be "first come, first served". I do, however, reserve the right to order the list geographically (like I did last year) as it seems to speed up the process a bit....expecially if someone takes me up on the offer below and we can split the list in half. Past good performance (or poor performance -- you know who you are!!) in passing the vids on will also be considered in the final order, as will whether you are active on AR or not (ie. if you don't reply to PMs, you get bumped).

AND, new for this year.....anyone that offers to make two copies and mail them both out so that the list can be split in half will automatically get to the front of the list!!! Remember though, unless you can steal DL DVDs from your office (or know a cheaper place to get them than I have found), thats is potentially a $50 offer! (4 DL DVDs at $7 apiece and 2x Expresspost at about $8 to $10).

So go ahead and get started sending in your info to get on the list.

Cheers,
Canuck

OK, I have a bunch of takers on the copying and a few others for the list already. I'll start a preliminary list here and then finalize after we get a good start on it.

Graylake has offered to make a copy. From past experience, I know he has the capability of doing DL DVD's as well, and may be able to compress them onto regular DVD's which would help everyone down the line with copying.

Also received offers to copy from Mabelingwane and ilw. This would be great because that means we could potentially have lists going in each of Ontario (east), Alberta and BC.

The list so far...

  • #1 Overall - Graylake

AB - Central
  • #1 - Canuck32
  • Frans Diepstraten
  • scruffy
  • Jetboater
  • sullijr

BC - Yukon
  • #1 - Mabelingwane
  • samwise
  • Smokey
  • .366Torque

ONT - East
  • #1 - ilw
  • 375 H&H Fan
  • WannabeBwana
  • firemanjim2
  • notlim
  • mikehjd

I will break the list up again if we have additional DVDs copied by any one on the list.

If we don't get any additional uptake, if one list gets to the end, we will send those DVD's into another list to split it up.

Cheers,
Canuck

Have had much better than expected uptake on the offer to make an extra copy of the DVDs! Thanks guys. We've got 4 now which is probably plenty...will see how the list fills out from here. Smiler

Canuck

I have made 3 copies of the DVD's. I was able to compress them. So they do fit onto 4 regular DVD's. I had to make them into just a feature film. Which means that you won't be able to view chapters. Each DVD is just the entire movie. That gives us 8hrs of Tanzania and Walter.

I have the adresses and will be mailing them out today.

They should make it to AB, BC before the weekend, but am not sure about Ont.

Enjoy

Graylake

ilw,
As you can see above, our good friend (and probably perpetual number one on the list!) Graylake, has made three extra copies. Since three more of you had offered to make an extra copy (canuck32, ilw, mabelingwane) I put you guys tied for #2 on the list. If you guys still want to make an extra copy and mail two out (its easier now that Graylake compressed them on to normal DVDs!), we can essentially split the list into 6. Pretty much everybody on the list might see the video before Christmas...it would be a record!

Just PM me and let me know if you are still interested. I'll send you as many addresses to send to as you want. Smiler

Thanks again to Graylake!

Cheers,
Canuck

Please check the new list above, revised due to Graylakes generous copying and Expressposting. I will happily split it further if others make an extra copy.

I am happy to report that the next three "copy cats" are done (or nearly so)!

ilw will be sending copies to 375H&HFan and WannabeBwanna.

Canuck32 will be sending copies to Frans Diepstraten and Scruffy

Mabelingwane will be sending copies to Samwise and Smokey.

So all you "next guys" on the list, please make sure to keep up the momentum and get them copied and out again as quick as you can. We may have this list finished by Christmas (instead of over a whole year like usual!).

Cheers,
Canuck

I was just telling my wife that this year in Reno I was going to spend some money on DVD's. I can't get my fix on hunting/outdoors or even non-lethal nature shows just from cable. But this will keep me going for a day or two!

BTW, I've been told that if we do finish this list before Christmas, Canuck is buying us all a beer! dancing

The 'bertan's on board have really set the pace! Frans and Scruffy are already ready to send the videos on.

Mabelingwane has shipped to Smokey and samwise...just waiting for confirmations of receipt from them.

ilw...did you ship to 375H&HFan and WannabeBwana? I have not received the tracking numbers from you, or confirmations of receipt from them yet.

I am quite excited about how quickly this is going this year! Keep it up guys!

Cheers

Samwise apparently hand-delivered a copy to .366Torque and mikehjd PM'd be that he has just received a copy of the disks.

This is awesome...short of any latecomers we are done about 8 months earlier than usual. Big Grin

Merry Christmas all!

The only downside now is we are going to have to wait 12 months for Saeed's next videos jumping

Thanks to everyone who forwared the disks and copied extras in a timely way that enabled everyone to see them before Christmas. Especially me because I was one of the latecommer to the list. An extra thank you goes to Cnuck for organizing the list.

I guess the first THANK YOU should go to Saeed for making them avilable in the first place. Thanks Saeed

Better late than never: MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL.
