That's not an isolated occurrence. All male bears do that, not just polar bear.
The tree huggers and Global Warming advocates seem to think it's caused by climate change. Clueless as usual.

This seems to be more propaganda from a source completely unfamiliar with bears. ALL of the species of Ursidae that are indigenous to North America cannibalize the young and even other adults, as opportunity permits. Grizzlies are especially active in this respect and the larger boars and sows with cubs often engage in combat and conflict over the attempts by the boars to kill and eat the cubs.

Bears, fascinating and beautiful creatures that they are, do not quite "fit the mold" of the "Disneyesque" view of biospheric reality.

Think about how many animals where the males eat the young. Pigs, bears, house cats, squirrels....heck the list goes on and on. The Innuit themselves say this is a common occurence with polar bears, but the greenies will use anything they can. The sad part is the public who have grown away from nature and it's realities will believe such claptrap.

All I can say about that "article" is, "WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!!!!"

That darned Global Warming is screwing up the whole world! It's making polar bears turn cannibal, there's probably going to be Zombie Musk Ox next and I'm sure that Global Warming is responsible for Tiger Woods' behavior!!!

Kinda wish it would hurry up & warm up - being at 2,200ft. ASL, I might have beach front property if this global warming ever gets serious. Getting tired of cold weather, but won't give up the wonderful hunting around here for warmer weather
There are some positives to warmer weather - pig population might grow in the area, whitetailed deer now, along with sharpies, and would like to see turkeys huntable close by - that will come in my lifetime - I hope - got to warm up a bit, though. Yay, global warming.
