| My, you do have this well planned, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. Personally, I think you're overgunned, but if it makes you happy, go for it. I've never found it necessary to use partition bullets and have been quite happy with the old lead core, soft point, 162 grn. Hornadys in my 7mm Rem. Grizz

| Plenty enough gun for BB. I too shoot a 300WM (Sako m75) with 180gr Accubonds. Use this combo to shoot all my big game in Alberta...including big bears! First shot Failsafes, then Partition Golds, and now th Accubonds with devasting results.
Good luck one your hunt. |

| I agree with Grizzly. I shoot a 300 Win mag as well, but these bears really aren't that hard to kill. I was out last week and we took a nice bear using a 7mm Mag loaded with 150 grain Ballistic Tips. The shot was at about 100 yards and the kill was instant.
If you are going to use your 300 Win mag, I would be more than comfortable using a 180 grain BT or similar type bullet. |

| Many years ago I assisted a customer of my gunsmith check out a Redfield scope on his Pre 64 Winchester 375 rifle that wouldn't hold to point of aim, when I fired it the 4th shot was at 5 o'clock low and just like it did with the owner. He was booked for an Alaskan Brown bear(griz)Hunt so he took his 300wm and shot a record bear. |

| My last black bear was looking length-on at me from 150 yards. I was using my .300 WM shooting 200 grain Barnes X bullets at about 2,850 fps. The bullet hit it dead centre in the chest and I found it behind the rear thigh between hide and thigh muscle. It went the entire length of the bear and weighed 202 grains when I removed it.
I've used .270 on black bears, but insurance never hurts when the critter you're hunting can hunt you down and kill you too. |
