Just browsing through my fall vacation planner (Hunting Regs). Just wondering what everone has planned for hunting season this fall? Personally I didn't get drawn in Montana so I will not be making my annual trip down there to hunt and visit with good friends. I didn't get drawn in the Manitoba Elk draw, although 2 of our hunting group did so I can go along and cook . I guess I will have to settle for the greneral moose season, muzzleloading deer and rifle deer then slide over to my brother-in-laws in Sask and get another whitetail over there. May have to spend a little more time shooting geese this year. Anyone have a special trip planned? or a new rifle they are anxious to try out? Wink

I will just be noodle-ing around home; South of town for mule deer and North for whitetail. Bone hunting ar first, then meat to fill the freezer. Have to get lucky in the bow season as I am off to Africa in November.

I didn't get drawn for any big game this year, so will only hunt with over the counter tags for big game.
I'll open the season with the Delta Waterfowl mentored hunt, teaching and taking out some first timers. Then several more early season duck, goose, and crane shoots.
I'll invite a few buddies to our bush camp for elk. while there, we'll hunt with our pointing dogs for a few ruffed grouse and maybe look for a bear. Then back home for some mixed bag upland bird & waterfowl hunts when the sharptail grouse and hun season opens in late September.
I'll take out a lady friend who was drawn for mule deer for the first time this year, lots of opportunity on our native prairie land at home. Then off to the southern part of the province for a pheasant hunt or two. More late season goose and duck hunts with a couple of friends from British Columbia.
We have two whitetail tags in our local zone this year, so November will be busy. I will probably shoot another whitetail up north. Late season I'll do another trip for pheasant, and guide the same lady friend to an antlerless elk and some ruffed grouse at our bush camp. Might buy a moose tag if the freezer isn't full of elk. Will end the year with a few coyote hunts and maybe one last trip for pheasant and huns.

I'm looking at a week of backpacking for early season elk-depending if wifey can get a day or two off of work Got drawn for antlerless muledeer in my secret location-I want an excuse to hunt there and do some elk scouting for future reference. high possibility of doing a week hunt in November a little further north-the land of giant whitetail. Also got drawn for the january antlerless elk season in 212.

i have already done some DG hunting in Zim, so this time I am taking my wife to Port Elizabeth where she can shop and have her spa-days. I will hunt with Blaaudrantz for (trophy - opportunity to take one):

Caracal - good
Bushpig - good (hounds)
Waterbuck - OK
Kudu - good
Springbuck (and ewe for taxidermy pair), - OK, the Karoo gets very hot
Blesbuck - good
Nyala - OK
Red hartebeest - OK
Cape Bushbuck - OK
Steenbuck - at night
Klipspringer - this would be very difficult
Eland - OK-good
Grysbuck- at night
Reedbuck - very difficult
or Lechwe? - difficult

Wish me luck, and remember, I will be bowhunting.

Just got back from a 3 day caribou hunt. Bad weather so no caribou.
Wife and I leave Sept 2nd for bison and elk if either if us get drawn.
Sept 18 we go for two weeks for moose and caribou.
Last week of October for caribou.
Game selection will change depending on the harvest.
If we take a bison most likely will not harvest a moose.
Good luck to all..

My buddy and I will head out to northern B.C. for his RM Goat draw and "immi" Moose and Mulies are also in season.

Then, we head down to the West Kootenays for his Elk draw and Mulies, Whites, 6pt. Elk, "immi" Moose and Grouse and Turkey are plentiful and in season. That's Sept. done.

October, if I have any freezer space unfilled, will see a Mulie-Grouse trip to the Boundary Country and maybe a trip further east into the East-West Kootenays for the Elk I did not shoot in Sept.

Nov. begins with a Blacktail hunt on a coastal B.C. island and then I sit home, eat venison and drink a little beer and port while Doug. Fir logs burn in my fireplace. Gawd, retiring at 55 WAS a GREAT idea!!!!

My season is set up as follows:

Whitetail archery: Aug 31-Nov8 hope to fill my tag by the end of Sept. Just got my tag last night!

General Moose: Sept 21-Oct18, hope to get away for a full week to pursue my first Moose! I do have lots of holidays saved up just in case I need more than a week!

Whitetail muzzle: Oct 19-Nov8

Whitetail rifle: Nov9-Nov29, will be my first deer hunt with my Dad, as he purchased a .270 earlier this year to get back into the ultimate sport!

May do some upland/waterfowl this fall as well on off days from deer hunting.

Planning on having a full freezer or two, as well as a trophy or two to hang on the wall!

September, I am goign to be hiking high up into some new area that I have been pondering for a year or 2. I can do numerous day/2 day trips on my weekends and after work.

October I will be in northern BC hunting moose.

November I will be back home, stalking the elusive blacktail...

Sheep hunting for a short week mid September and early October too, if required. Mule deer hunting in November. If a sheep succumbs early, then I know of a big whitetail that teased me last year.
