A team member went to Finland for some biathlon races (World Masters), and tried to get a temporary export form from the CFC, but they took too long. I told him I'd been drving into the US with guns "for years" and never had any problems... just the US BATF 6NIA form, a hunting license and that was it. Upon his return the first thing customs asked for was the temp export form. He sent me a link where indeed the CFC explains that this form is required... and all sort of @#$^&# useless paper crap you need to supply to get it. This is new to me. Did y'all know about this? The utter uselessness of this type of admin crap tends to drive me into a frenzy, and people who know me start smiling whenever I mention something like this, because they know the rant that will follow. Guess there is another form to fill next time I go visit our brethren to the south.

Yes it is a PITA but not difficult. I applied Feb 26th and got my permit March 12. FWIW it was discussed in 07 atTemp export permit process. Permit is not required for US but for everywhere else. You can thank your relates sofa in the EU for this BS as it was the warisava (sp)convention in Austria that spurred the Canadians to start this.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

There's a lot more gun ownership related crap in Europe that we really wouldn't want to see here, believe me!

Not required for the US, that's good news, I guess I didn't read that far.

Thanks
