Hi There

A good friend is trying to book a moose/elk BC combo hunt. He is trying to get some first-hand info on two outfitters - Gundahoo River and Stone Mountain - I have got what I can from the Hunting Report but if anyone has any experience they could share we would be most appreciative.

Cheers and thanks
Matt Graham

I've never hunted with either outfitter, but I am very familiar with their territories and their reputations. Your friend will not go wrong with either one of them.

If I was specifically after moose, I'd look real hard at Dale Drinkall (Folding Mt/Terminus Mt Outfitters) too. He's got some great moose.

Cheers,
Canuck

Good choice I met one of the new owners this fall seemed like a nice guy. Don't let the new ownership worry you they still have most of the same guides working for them. Every year when I go down to Toad it seems like the Elk have doubled in numbers. Its just to bad when your at the lodge looking at nice bulls right in the horse pasture you can't hunt them because they are in Dales area.

Let me second that, Mark...welcome to the forums! I missed your post somehow.

I hope you have a great hunt. With an outfit like Stone Mountain you have put the odds as much in your favour as you can anyway! Hope you take home a thumper like this....

Cheers,
Canuck

Thanks alot Canuck Its people like you who make the next 6 month allmost unbearable. My boys and I were watching a cow and alittle bull calf trying to get into our horse hay this morning. My three year old shot him atleast a hundred times using his trusty finger. It was a good reminder my days of pulling the trigger on moose are coming to a close. With three boys who can't wait to shoot their first moose. You only need so much meat in the freezer each year.

Good luck Mark Your going to my favorit place on earth The toad river valley.

Thanks for the support and best wishes for my hunt.

As you can imagine I'm still finding it hard to believe that it's actually going to happen.

Going to fly Sydney to Vancouver direct, but one way has a stop over in Hawaii for fuel. Any info on transporting my rifle and ammo through a US state would be appreciated.

Cheers all,
Mark.

I'd fly direct. US firearms importation is very difficult for an alien. Save yourself the hassle.
