Tough luck. We've gotta wait till the 15th here in Sask. I'm hoping for mule deer and moose but not holding out much hope.

Sorry to hear that AR. Received word yesterday that my boys were drawn for rifle elk in the interlake. I will be anxiously watching the mail to see if my partner and myself got drawn as well. If not I guess I'm chief cook and dishwasher.......again.

Nice!! Gonna have to check the mail...hoping for archery elk in GHA 30, but was drawn for archery moose last year so not holding my breath. I guess we'll see

Fortunately we are on high ground and have no issues. It is really bad to the south and southwest………. a lot of people are getting hit hard. Sad to see.

You have to draw for a land owners tag ? Here you have to apply in the general draw and if you're not selected, sustainable resources issues you one. Think Wednesday is the day here.

Yes…… the landowner draw here is a separate draw from the general/archery draws.

just recevied a call from the office and someone cancelled their draw and i was next in line for a SHEEP draw. finally after 8 years

Finally got 418 Elk. Been 10 years but my kind of Hunt. Mountains and horses, well worth the wait.

Hey fantastic to have drawn a Grizzly tag a sheep tag and elk tags! Really looking forward to living threw you good folks so I honestly hope u all post reports regardless of out comes. Let's all not forget how blessed we are to live in Canada and have a chance to hunt some of the worlds finest animals. Sure it's not Africa but those who have harvested sheep,goat,elk and grizzly can attest to the wild lands that these animals call home!

I'm actually related to one of the key bureaucrats who made this possible. We got into a memorable argument over the entire concept. I object for several reasons, most seriously because of the inevitability of disease entering the wild populations. The CWD problem we have is a direct result of the policy that she wrote and that Saskatchewan politicians turned into legislation.

Yes Saskatchewan allows the high fenced hunts and they are quite prolific…… a few in Ontario and Quebec as well.

I agree with you completely on it being pathetic. I observed a couple of the high fence elk 'hunts' a couple years ago and was embarrassed even to be in the vicinity, but I had deliberately gone to watch and see, as I had not seen them first hand. I figured if I was going to have an opinion on it, it would be good if it was based on actual first hand observation.

In all honesty, it was very sad and there was about as much difficulty involved as whacking an angus cows out in one of my pastures. It bore no resemblance to a REAL elk hunt for wild elk. After the shooting they walk over and set up the elk for the pictures so that there will not be any high fence in the background and cut off the ear tags.

Left a really bad taste in my mouth and I will never understand the attraction………. to me it is not about hunting and more about stroking the ego with a big elk rack and instant gratification. There was no 'hunting', just killing.
