Well it has been a week and I am able to get around at just about normal speed now. Last friday I was walking across the yard when I noticed a 4 legged critter going over the hill down in the field. So like a normal person, I went into the shack and got the 22-250. After a bit of a hike I was able to catch up to it in the stack yard(were I store hay bales). One shot and a nice Red Fox was down. As I was walking over to retrieve it, I had to go between a couple young poplar trees. There was a deer path there to follow, so I thought that would be a good way to get to the fox. Since I only had on running shoes and the snow was deep off the path. As I stepped onto the deer path I felt a sharp pain in my right foot and ended up dropping my rifle. I couldn't move since my foot was stuck to the ground. I figured great I just put a rusty nail into my foot. Much to my surprise after I got my foot out and then pulled my shoe off. It was an old deer antler that was in the grass/ground. It was a old shed that has been laying there for a couple years and there were only 2 tines about 3.5" long sticking out of the ground. I ended up stepping on the sharp tine(G-2) that has a slight bend to it. It ended up going in about 2" or a little better. The whole time that this was going on the herd of Mule Deer that feed in the stack yard everyday were standing 150 yards away watching. I still can't believe that I stepped on a deer antler.

it hurts just to think about it...... What happened to the fox? I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind. - John Diefenbaker (From the Canadian Bill of Rights, July 1, 1960.)

Youch!! That had to hurt a little. Reminds me of one of my favorite Simpson's episodes from way back. The "Swear Jar" episode for those that watch it. Homer steps on a nail and, in his best efforts to refrain from swearing, says "Fiddle-dee-dee. That will require a tetanus shot." And you are just recovering from something else too? Sounds like a bad run of it...hope things get better! Cheers Canuck

Its probably 80% now. The skin (scar tissue)will never be as tough as the original. Its in a bad spot but I have a couple different pairs of boots that don't rub there, so I don't think it will slow me down much. Was never a big fan of 10" boots before, but I love them now!
