I booked my first Canadian hunt a few months ago. I have read where some hunters have had problems taking reloads into other countries. Apparently the officials get bent out of shape when the ammunition is not in a factory box. Is this the case in Canada, do I need to use factory boxes and how closely will they check them? Example, if I have a box for .458 W/M but it contains .458 lotts will they check, will it matter? Thanks

I`ve carried reloads into Canada at both the Soo and Port Huron bridges from Michigan a few times and never been asked more then "how many rounds" I had reguarding ammo. You now have to have paper work to return with your rifle that needs be filled out before you cross from the US but ammo has just been a declare and enter item when I`ve went. I haven`t been since 2000 though so things my have changed since the lasst I was there.
