Hauke,

Congratulations on getting the job and the paperwork done. I'm sure you'll love it here.

As for houses, I don't think Lake Louise has a lot of residential buildings.

The prices in Canmore for single family houses have risen tremendously over the last five years, but maybe with the strong Euro it may not look too bad to you.

Not a lot of vacancies in Banff I would think, and if I could chose, I'd opt for Canmore. In my opinion Canmore feels more like a town one could live in, Banff is really touristy.

Calgary to Lake Louise is a big drive to do as a daily commute.

Here is a good site to start you home search:
http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=6240
Click on the areas you want to search, fill in your parameters and away you go.

This link should take you straight to the Banff/Canmore/Lake Louise area:
http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=6278
There don't seem to be any current listings in Lake Louise.

Please note that over here following a wounded big game animal with your Hannoveraner is only allowed if you are not carrying a firearm!

Thank you Frans,
Calgary is no Problem.I will stay in the Hotel.
So I look for a house for rent, not to buy.My wife and the Kiddis could stay in Calgary.I can go for weekend;-).
And later I think, for my wife it is easy to find a job in Calgary.
Last year I was in Canmore to.Nice ,smal city.

All of the ski workers I've talked to say that the secret of working in Lake Louise is to find accomodations. Once you live there the job is easy to find. I suggest, you live in Calgary and drive to Louise at the same time you should be looking for work in Calgary itself. The hospitality trade isn't the same in Canada as Europe and honestly you'll find it hard to make a living here. I have some industry contacts let me know if you need anything.

There is an option to look at rental places too on that site. Rents have gone up in a big way too.

Do a Google for "rental properties Calgary" and you'll get plenty of links to property management companies.

I'll keep an eye on our local (Cochrane, NW of Calgary) papers, and see if anything interesting comes up.

The rental situation, being what it is here, you might want to re-consider bringing the dogs,at least until you get established. Our landlords, in general, don't look favorably on pets and it might make it more difficult to find accomodation.
