I spoke with my outfitter in BC whom I'll be hunting black bear with next week and he told me there were some changes with getting trophies back home. When I was there 3 yrs ago I had him mail the hide and skull directly to my taxidermist. Apparently mailing them can no longer be done. He told me that I will have to take the salted hide and boiled skull of my bear (provided I get one!) back with me on the plane. He told me there will be airline approved containers for this in camp. It just seems like such a hassle and I'm not sure how the airlines people are gonna handle it even though my outfitter, who I do trust, said it will be fine. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Anyone take their skins back with them on the plane? Any special precautions I have to take? Thanks Wes Webber An Armed Society Is a Polite Society

I have done it twice. Once form Montana, the hide and skull were frozen. It was in plastic bags inside a duffle bag. The second time, I,had killed a bear in Canada, drove across the border and flews back with the hide and the meat, both frozen just paying the extra bags charge. Just make sure there is NO chance of any leaking fluids. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
