Looking for a trustworthy outfitter in the wonderful country of Canada. Looking to hunt spring black bear.

I'm trying to take my 71 year old father to get a nice bear. I had gotten an advertisement from Cabelas for a few places, one around Prince George BC that looked good (don't have the outfits name yet but will post it up here when I do). Looking for other recommendations.

I could go somewhat local, but the bears just aren't as big down here in my neck of the woods.

Any help appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Give Jason Lambley at Interlake Safaris out of Fisher Branch, Manitoba a look. He offers both land based and fly-in bear hunts.

Are you looking to hunt over bait or run them with hounds or spot and stock?

I don't think my dad can keep up with a hound hunt. Maybe spot and stalk, bait for sure.

You would be surprised, I have gotten wheelchair bound hunters to the tree before.
Lots of spot and stalk opportunities as well.

Thanks for the kind words P dog.

I should note, my dad isn't wheelchair bound, and he and I still get out to hunt, but he's just slowing down a bit. From the hound hunts I've seen, some of them can be quite a hike and I'm not sure he's up to that, so that was my concern.

I have hunted bears all three way hounds, spot and stalk and bait.

By far I find hound hunting to be the most exciting then spot and stalk followed by bait.

Here are my three picks:

For a hound hunt Fraser Canyon Outfitters

For a spot and stock hunt Willow Creek Outfitters
http://willowcreekoutfitters.com/

Bait hunt Garret Brothers.

Good luck on the hunt, whoever you choose.
