Chad, Are you a Canadian Citizen? If not you will have to be on a guided hunt. I am going to be hunting the fort Nelson area for Elk this fall and I am hoping *not* to see any G-bears. It should not be a problem finding a Grizzly I have heard plenty of times that the G-bears have learned that gun shots mean a nice Elk or Moose gut pile meal and come a runnin! In fact a fellow was telling me just the other day some people just fire a couple shots in the air and wait for the bear to show up . Another fellow that hunted the area told me he shot a six point Elk and a grizzly showed up within 20 minutes, they fired a warning shot when the bear was 200yds out and it just paced around until they left the gut pile for him. If you are a Canadian citizen let me know I can recomend a packer that will take you in and drop your party in G-bear country. They can use a little thinning out.

You have to be a BC Resident to hunt without a guide.

Just got back from the Horsefly and Lake Quesnel area. Fishing was okay (it would be great anywhere else). Saw 3 Grizzlies around the Horsefly and 4 up in the Caribou Lake area. At least a dozen different Blacks including 3 very pretty Cinnamon coloured.

The general area around Ft.Nelson is quite flat, (think northern Alta/ Sask) some low rolling hills, lots of timber (short range shooting). Moose hunting will probably be near wetlands, marshes. Tough to find a GB, until he stumbles onto you. Large pop. of Blackies. Packers can be hired, horses or jetboat. Good Luck.
