Does anybody know what Form(s) from the ATF I need, in order to take Rifle(s) across the US border for Hunting? Thanx. Check out the following website: http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/trade/eicb/military/faq-en.asp#8 Q8. I want to go to the US to hunt or to shoot in a competition. A8. The US passed legislation in 2002 which now requires all ‘non-resident aliens’ to obtain a temporary import permit (BATF Form 6NIA) prior to travelling in the US with a firearm. This document requires proof of registration at a shooting event or possession of a valid hunting licence issued by any State of the US. The Form 6 can be applied for on-line as can some State hunting licences. Once issued the Form 6 can be valid for up to a year (in the case of hunters) or to the date of the competition. Canadian firearms owners should be prepared to show proof of firearms licence and registration when they return to Canada. UNITED STATES Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Firearms & Explosives Imports Division ph. (202) 927-8320 fx. (202) 927-2697 http://www.atf.gov/firearms/feib/index.htm on-line import (Form 6NIA, http://www.atf.gov/firearms/form6nia/) application for temporary importations only (hunting, competitive shooting, etc.) Hope this helps Canuck32 If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness." - Alberta Provincial Court Judge Demetrick

The ATF Form 6 and a hunting licence from a State. You'll also want to make a Canadian Customs declaration and get what's called a 'green card'. No big deal. You get it at the border. It proves to our side you bought anything with a serial number at home. Cameras, binoculars, etc. Don't forget to take your registration paperwork with you. You'll need it on the way home. Spelling and grammar count.
