Thanks, I think I'm going to rug it. I did a full body mount on last years goat, and it's in my den. My wife still has withheld permission for it to stay there, and I continually assure her that the goat mount is on ebay, and that I just haven't gotten the right bid yet. I wonder how long she will buy this? bsflag

Don,

What a great report. Your story put me right back in the mackenzies. Each day ringing fresh with opportunities and enthusiasm, each night ending with more physical pain, deterioration and a collapse into the bag.

Again, you worked hard enough to earn two rams. I am bummed for you that you did not connect.

Question, why not post here on AR? If I could guess, is it that this forum degenerates into a political rants?

Atta boy Don.

I, and others, appreciate your quick wit and positive contributions. Keep up the good work and these insightful comments coming.

Unfortunately, the entire hunting situation IS SO politicized NOW, that the discussions JDB refers to are inevitable...and, even with the unpleasant rhetoric that can degrade some of them, I think they provide a genuine learning opportunity for everyone interested.

DonB IS a valuable contributor here, IMHO, and I also value his posts very highly as I do those of most guys here, any political differences aside.

I will add, that DonB is always a polite, respectful and appreciative guy and he IS the kind of "non-resident alien" hunter whom I welcome and I think most other Canucks do as well.

Nice country in the Yukon and my wife wants us to move there when she retires, as she was an "outpost" RN there. I am considering it, but, I love B.C.'s huge trees, big lakes and at least equal scenery too much....plus, we have FOUR distinct types of sheep here.

DonB, think northern B.C., late August, Elk, Moose and Stone's Sheep....you will be broke for years, after, but, what else could equal this?

Why thanks guys! It's nice to be loved by
wise californians who give us boxer and feinstein and run their state so well.

I'm truly humbled.

Dewey, I would have relished a report from Don about his hunt. I just felt slapped in the face by being told I could have it second hand from the campfire.

Not all of us appreciate scraps from another table!

Now if it's politics you want, here's mine in a nutshell. I'd like nothing better than to
deport all liberals. And then charge ALL politicians with treason against the constitution, find them guilty and then execute them appropriately!

Only 6% fought for freedom in 1776. Nothing has changed, therefore I have little to no use whatsoever for 94% of the population! Leeches all! Bloodsuckers! They quickly line up to collect the benefits of freedom others have died providing.

I would like to offer a humble appology though.
My initial interest in the sheep hunt caused me to overlook that this was the Canadian site.
My referrence to a passport meant to the campfire, not to the land of our friends up north.

Don,
I apologize about the "scraps from another table". If you read the report, you will realize that it took me all day to assimilate......wife, kids and dogs haven't seen me in two weeks......I just didn't have the time or computer skills to do it twice. I really love AR, and had a little pang of guilt about the way I was doing it....my method had nothing to do with politics.

Don B,

Not a problem sir, I guess your post just caught me at a bad moment. It was not my intention to "politicise" anything. I was merely attempting to use a little sarcasm to voice my dismay over having to visit the fire
by referring to it as "foreign". I am not particularly fond of that site.

I truly do appologize! sofa And you have no need to appologize, since you have done nothing wrong! beer

FANTASTIC report Don!! Sheep hunting is no gimme, you just gotta keep trying. Its no wonder some folks get choked up looking at their sheep trophies after hunts like that, eh? I feel sorry for the folks that hit the jackpot too early and get the impression its easy!

Congrats on a great bear too. They are all on "lottery" here, and I am 18 years without a draw now, so I am a little green with envy. Smiler

No worries on the cross-link. I know how busy life gets and this internet stuff can be a real time sink if you let it! If you do get the chance to do some cutting/pasting it would be great if you could consolidate here in the Hunting Reports section. Quality reports like that really do contribute to the overall quality of a hunting forum.

Congrats again on a great experience and a great bear, and thanks so much for taking the time to put it all in writing for us!

Cheers
Canuck
