Compared to last years bear this on was small. six foot 200lbs. We had a good stalk and Colton made a perfect 80 yard shot with his 222 rem. The bear went 20 yards and dropped dead.

What? no way! Everyone knows you need at least a .30 calibre magnum (preferably the most recent one!) to kill a bear!
Well done, the lad is being well taught. Many happy season to you both.
good shooting

Hey Doug,

Tell Colton congrats on a nice bear . I think its time to buy him a proper hunting rifle though. Maybe something like a 7mm .08 .
Cheers
Allan

Awesome shooting there Colton my son is 15 months old right now and I can hardly wait for him to get older so we can go out and do what you just did.

He'll be using a single shot 30-30 though.

Amen to that! My little guy is 3 1/2 years old and I can't wait to take him hunting with me and his pappy.
