I have a TC Encore Pro Hunter with a 20 inch Katahdin Barrel in 460 S&W. I am planning a spring bear hunt and want some opinions as to using this rifle on bear. It shoots 275gr Barnes X bullets at about 2300fps, and kills hogs and deer in Southeast Georgia very efficiently. The energy etc is not much less than my 350 Remington Mag. Any thoughts???? I posted earlier about getting the rifle into Canada with the short barrel and the caliber, but have checked and there should be no problem there.

It'll kill bears easy enough. Smiler

Depending on where/how you are hunting, you might find it a little range limited, but other than that, I think its a great choice for b'ar.

Cheers,
Canuck

Canuck,

Thanks for the reply. I'll be hunting over bait, so range won't really be a factor. However, this caliber has really surprised me with how flat it shoots. I have shot some respectable groups at 200 yds with it. Thanks again.

You'd probably wrestle them with your bare hands if it wasn't so unsporting. Razzer

I heard Gate's has to wear blaze orange during the grizzly season. Big Grin
