Hunted 7-49 this spring for G bear with no luck. It's thick and swampy in most of the area. Are you going with an outfitter?

Yama, no outfitter , just two of us, heard the best way to grizzly hunt in 7-49 is to get you moose down first and wait for the griz to come for the remains? Any thing you could tell me to help would be appreciated, how did you hunt them?

It's not an easy area to get into without a river boat, but there are other ways. I went in twice. The first time was for 10 days with a guide, the second was for 4 days with a different guide. Both the guides are good friends, so it wasn't like a guided hunt as much as a buddy that knew the area, on both trips. We covered as much as 70kms in one day and sat on one hill all day once. We counted 16 moose below us and thought a G bear would be looking for a calf, but not so. We tracked one in the fresh snow for about 5 miles but the bugger crossed the river just ahead of us. Quads are the only way in the area we were in. You couldn't walk most of it because of the muskeg. Thick timber, some cutlines. Tough!
