May have already happened yesterday. A sow grizzly and her two cubs, years old have been around Contact Creek Yukon, on the alaska hughway, since the cub's first year. The den must be there. The bears have been fed by travelers and now the bears are habituated to humans. The cubs when kicked away from the sow will stay by the highway because they do not know any different than getting food from vehicles. So B.C.
conservation was scheduled to shoot the three yesterday. Wife and I went down yesterday but did not see anything. so either missed the killing or it has not happened yet. We did not see any bears. What a shame. Game warden's are thinking about signs to say do not feed wildlife.

People are so f'ing stipid.

We have issues down here when people feed the alligators and black bears. They don't realize it is a death sentence.

We had the same thing happen with a black bear sow and cubs. She den in a culver had twins and they were hanging around the highway.

People started feeding them then they started causing trouble around a local business.

Then they were killed.

We had a similar problem with a couple black bears. We own a section of recreational property and a neighbor started feeding the bears on a regular basis. From then on we had bear problems and a couple had to be removed for the protection of the grandkids (and all of us).
I know they are ONLY black bears but when they jump on the kids tents, in the middle of the day, it becomes a huge issue to me!
When will people just let wild bears be wild?

Unbelievable. If people had any sense they would be chasing them off with flash-bangs and firecrackers rather than feeding them. FED = DEAD!

Hate to say it but a fed bear is a dead bear. Ones with pet names don't last too long either. Very sad really that people think taking a photo of a bear eating a sandwich from their hand makes them feel in contact with nature. When all it does is sign their death sentince.

As of Saturday night the bears were still alive. I spoke to a Yukon Game Warden and he said the Yukon game branch would rather try to chase them off the highway. He told me you can not imagine hoe many rubber bullets and how much bear spray I have used on them to try to convince them to leave. The B.C. department wants to take the simple solution it seems. When I spoke to the GW on Saturday night he was just heading down again to give them some rubber. I was down on Sunday morning and did not see them. I did see three bears, two bull caribou, about a dozen bison though. One bear was a very nice chocolate brown. They were all on the wrong side of the border for me.
I am going out for next 5 days to hunt bears. Should be perfect time.
