I would prefer to ignore jb, whose agenda is only too obvious, however, this poll contains a fundamental falsehood that both denigrates me and also casts an aspersion on Canadians as a whole.

It is that I HAVE NEVER posted or even implied, on ANY forum, that I speak for ANYBODY except myself and certainly NOT for some mythical ...majority of Canadians.... WHY "jb" chooses to employ specious and defamatory tactics in his "poll" is a question that one might ask, but, given his antics here, any reply would also be a lie.

I suspect that "jb" hopes to bait me into making inchoate and threatening comments to him and thus have me "banned".....kinda shows that my posts do disturb him and, so they should.

As The Right Honourable John George Diefenbaker, PM of Canada once said, "Polls are for dogs"...but, IME, dogs are fine and honourable creatures.............

Your posts dont bother me dewey,in the least.I have tried to see your point of view for some time, and I see why you ,or you fellow canadians would be upset with the rules in your country. My poll here is simply to find out if,as you claim, canadians would rather americans not come to your province to hunt or fish.
I have no intention of denigrating anyone, espcially you.I asked for comments to remain polite, and I hope they will.
Perhaps you are correct, and most of your countryman would prefer "yankee stay home".Like I said before,I think your comments ,and the way you conduct yourself detract from your position, and make you,and your cause to be taken less seriously.
I am in no way trying to get you banned ,in fact,You havent noticed ,but I HAVE BEEN AGREEING WITH YOU ,that you ,and your fellow canadians deserve to have a better deal than what you do,but you are too busy calling me an asshole to notice. Some weeks ago ,you posted how you were going to change tactics ,and I applauded you.
If you want the poll removed, just ask,and I will take it down.

I guess my intent is to make dewey realize he would get alot more people to listen to him,if he wasnt so offensive in his approach.
I find it hard to believe many people agree with what he says, how he says it.
I think, they should throw out the present GO situation. Its just plan wrong for a small group of people to be able to close off large areas of govt land to the rest of the residents. For some reason,he thinks I conspire to get his resources, although I told him Ive never been in canada, and may not ever.

jb,You probably should realize that my primary concern is with BC and that those here who object to my posts on this issue, tend to be GOs and their minions. One such, in fact, is in another province, yet, is most vociferous and totally uninformed as to our BC situation....he is, as you are, a person totally lacking in credibility and integrity.

So, whatever your silly little exercise in attempting to demonstrate some sort of support here for whatever your opinion may be, it is irrelevent to what is happening here and will not affect our situation in any respect.

I have accomplished here, what I set out to do and am quite satisfied with the results. The internet gives some degree of communication concerning issues of this type, total, blockades will do more and local campaigns will bring about the results all true-hearted BCers desire.

You????, I doubt you WILL come to Canada and, especially BC, this is not a place for your kind and you would be frightened by BC mountain men and even their 4 yr. old daughters.

always got to make it personal, don't you Dewey? i have wasted my time and money on 2 different 10 day horseback hunts in BC WITHOUT SEEING A SINGLE SHOOTABLE CARIBOU OR MOOSE BULL. and I am not talking "trophy", I am talking any male over 1 1/2 years old! and before you say I was not in a good area, I hunted the Muncho Lake area north of Ft. Nelson and the Cassiar mountains just south of Watson Lake. I wouldn't go back just because I feel it is a waste of time and money. If I just want to have a horseback ride in the snow and rain, I can do it a lot closer to home. the " BC mountain men" I met and hunted with were outstanding guys- unlike some of their countrymen. And you still haven't said if Kiwis, Aussies and Brits should be allowed to purchase resident hunting licenses( since they are not "foreigners, it seems self-evident that they should).

If, you carefully research the various posts made to and about me by foreigners here, you will find that I did NOT make any negative remarks about any of them, UNTIL, they, you included, had called me names...in your case, you called me a ...moron... So, your complaint is false.

For over six years, I have freely given advice on BC hunting to foreign hunters, usually Americans and, oddly enough, these people have returned home beaming and thanking me due to being successful. You, quite obviously, were "taken for a ride" and it happens here, although I do not agree with treating any legal hunter this way.

Where you hunted would not be my first choice and I have been there as recently as a couple of years ago. I won't cast aspersions on your GO, as I do not know who that was, but, while Caribou CAN be very elusive in any area of BC where they still reside, finding a legal Moose there should NOT have been very difficult.

I have seen one of the truly best guides in northern BC fail on Elk for a New Jersey hunter and I told him, as our horses passed on our way out of "Stone Mountain"'s concession, where I had found six bulls within sight the previous day.....I don't know if they went after them, but, there were about 75 Elk within my sight that morning, after a four hour climb by myself to glass from a ridgetop.

As to a ...waste of time and money...yeah, BC offers HARD but REAL hunting, not, shooting at a feeder, waterhole or bait. A lot of "dudes" simply cannot handle it and nobody finds game on every hunt....that is WHY it is so much fun!

So, YOU stop making it personal and I will be only too happy to do so as well.

JB - Thank you for this poll. I have hunted and fished in Western Canada on several occassions (Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC). My wife and I honeymooned in BC (plus some great catch & release fishing).

Canada has aways been one of my favorite places to visit - Beautiful scenery, great game and fabulous people. Dewey's posts have caused me great concern that we Americans are not welcome by our northern neighbors. I can, of course, complete my life without returning to Canada but I find it sad that I would take that course.

I truly hope his views are in the minority among Canadians.

Gentlemen, I have only been to Canada one time.

I was on a Black Bear fishing trip, and I killed a great balck bear and cought some great fish.

As is my nature, I talked to as many Canadiens as I could. I found all of them to be very good people.

I broke bread and drank Whisky with many of them... They were fine folk.

NONE of them were Deweys...

Sorry Dewey... I do not want to start a fricas with you, but it is just my observation...

The people I hunted bear with, the Border guards... and the people in town were, most excellent.

And because of the job I had for over 30 years, I am a pretty good judge of people...

And let me add I have been to some distant places...

Good people can be found in South and Central America... The USSR, Africa, and even Canada...

On page one of the thread on handgun hunting here in Canada, you state that you have ...trained... Canadian "militry" and police, including RCMP officers from the "Musical Ride". So, you consequently understand Canada, Canadians and Canadian culture and laws far better than ... a Dewey...

OK, since you make such comments, would you kindly tell me and anyone else here who may be interested, just where and when you trained members of our national police force? I am VERY curious as to how a Texan is/was a "trainer" in the RCMP?

BTW, I have been a "civilian employee" of the RCMP, as was my wife, her sister and my father. My mother was the first civilian and first woman in Canada to be appointed a "Sub-Division Clerk", a position always filled by a member of at least "Corporal's" rank. HER brother served as a member during the Korean War and I worked with RCMP personnel for decades while in the Forest Service in BC and Alberta and the Canadian Coast Guard, so, am somewhat familiar with them.

Funny, I have never heard of an American being a "trainer" for the Mounties and am very curious as to the facts about your claim.

Your last sentence really shows exactly what you are, eh?

I'm a retired 'memeber' myself - was a police/corrections service firearms instructor for 16 years too. The 'mounties' are a very close-knit group for the most part, who have their own 'trainers' some are good, while others - well, there are others.

Years ago, when running IPSC courses keyed for revolvers at our local Corrections range, I've had the pleasure of shooting with a number of local Mounties and my Riot Squad and Perimeter Security Staff during this time & during Corrections annual qualifications. Shooting my courses of fire, involved training everyone involved to shoot accurately as well as quickly, forgetting the Mounty's own (at the time) ridiculous timed events and shooting as if their lives depended on it. Hopefully, they maintained this training throughout their careers.

While instructing in Burnaby, I've had the pleasure of training Vancouver City Police, Delta Police and Port Moody Police who were all in training and needed one-on-one instruction to pass their shooting tests, although that training only happened every other year while I was recertifying, it was still training. Indeed, my students all excelled. Yeah - I'm bragging.

I don't what this has to do with anything, just that to train RCPolice members, one usually has to be an instructor within ranks 'as stationed', as Dewey said. The odd time at the local Rod and Gun Club range, I've helped some members with holding and trigger difficulties while they were practising with those stupid 9mm's, but that is isn't quite the same as training.
