Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with Courageous Lake Outfitters. We have heard good reports from the Hunting Report but would like to talk to an AR member who has had a personal experience with them. My wife and I are interested in a Caribou hunt for 2006.
Thanks Mike

I spent two seasons at that camp as camp manager back in the early '90s, before it changed ownership.

The physical setup at that time was very comfortable, and the hunting was very good, too. Hunting is done by boating to good vantage points and then walking up to elevations to survey the countryside. The lake sprawls for many miles and offers access to a lot of country. There are NO trees of any description, only occasional bits of brush in low-lying areas (which the griz use to ambush caribou....watch it).

Since the caribou are constantly migrating, the hunting can change radically from one day to the next.

I can highly recommend the operation run by my friend, ~Arctic~, who posts here occasionally. Search for "Arctic Safaris" for more info. His camp(s) are within a hundred miles or so of Courageous Lake, not very far in that part of the "woods", and he runs a first-class hunt.
