Canadian on a working man's budget and wife's air mile card, if you could hunt every province and territory, say one game animal in each, what would those game animals be for each province or territory? Remember you are on a budget and this is a 15 yr project.

For example, what is the province with the better or most interesting moose hunt?, Elk hunt?, or duck hunt? Can I get a chance at a pronghorn, I'm from Nova Scotia? Turkey? Mule Deer and Whitetail? Bear? Where should I try for Caribou. Blacktail?

Please share some ideas so my dream can get some legs.... Should I plan for combined species hunts? Ideas? Canadian Safari 101, (Johny Canuck Hunts) means doing all canadian provinces and territories over a 15 yr period on working man's budget. What do you think...???? Possible?

Depends on what you want to hunt, and how you want to hunt it. If you have to get an outfitter for each, I'd say forget it, unless you stick to black bear and deer. When I think about one animal in each province, I dream of stone sheep in BC, a dall in the NWT, grizz in the Yukon... darn, where do I do the moose, or goat...? Nah, one animal per province wouldn't do it for me, even if I had the money.

Doing all those species "on a working man's budget"? The average working man hasn't got much left after the mortgage is paid, and some reservation for college funds, truck repairs, a family holiday, christmas presents...

Hey, there's a couple of provinces in the West where you can do a Hunter Host, or hunt sponsor deal.

But antelope in AB for example, you can't get a tag for as a non-resident.There are restrictions in BC as to what species you can hunt as a sponsored non-resident, same up north.

I'm just thinking of the species I would like to hunt in other provinces, not counting on local contacts, and the answer quickly tends to "can't". US$24,000 for a stone sheep? No way my working man's budget can fit that in. I've seen a few whopper 50% last-minute deals this fall, but that is still a lot of cash to fork out for a hunt. What does your Johnny Canuck make per year? Maybe your idea of a working man's budget is different from mine.

And of course an AB moose hunt can be bought for US$4500. Like I said, if you limit yourself to certain species....

I have done most all the research required for the listed animals, and 'iffin I were to be able to tackle all these hunts, the areas I would go follow the species. All the Alberta Hunts are allready done, but even considering being out of province, These are still the areas I would go to. I have also guided for 11 yrs. in all aras except NWT, so know 1st hand pretty much the exact locals I would Hunt in each Province as well.

Black Bear- BC Coast (Island)
Grizzly- North BC Coast
Mule Deer- Alberta
Whitetail- Sask.
Antelope- Alberta
Elk- SE Alberta
Big Horn Sheep- Alberta
Stone Sheep- BC
Dall Sheep- NWT
AK/YK Moose- NWT
Canada Moose- North BC
Cougar- Mid Interior BC
Goat- North BC Coast
