Im starting to get really pumped about my moose/goat combo hunt in September with moose valley outfitters. I have several questions. Ive been on several mtn. hunts but never by horse. Im used to hiking with light layers then adding a fleece jacket and gortex rain shell while glassing. Will I need heavier clothing for a horse back hunt? Im also trying to figure out what gloves to wear for riding? I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

What you have to wear sounds like it should work. Remember you can hit snow at any time so make sure you are warm enough. I would have two pairs of gloves as cold hands suck. insulated leather and one just light leather will do. Sounds like a great trip. The weather can turn from blue sky to snow in five minutes. Be prepared. Take a couple of pairs of gloves.
