Hi Folks! I can describe this hunt with one word. GO!!!! If you like to hunt and have a healthy spirit of adventure then do yourself a favor and call Peter and just go, he still has a few more weeks this year and if you have any possible way of making it happen then I suggest you go right now.
He really, really knows these wolves and he knows how to get them. I can promise you he will do everything in his power to put a wolf in front of you. There were 3 of us in camp and he put a wolf 30 yards from me, unfortunately I had ice in the bolt face where the firing pin comes out and it didn't go off until round 3. The second guy wounded one at 110 yards (longest shot this year!At a standing wolf) and missed another one that was running away from him. The 3rd guy did not see one but it's not because Peter didn't do his job, it's just the luck of hunting.
It's cold, snowy and you use snow machines and trucks to get into post positions, then the guide tracks them on snowshoes. I had no problem with staying warm, I just used good long underwear and layered my deer hunting clothes.
As soon as I can find a 2008 calender, I'm going to check my schedule and put a deposit for next year. This is pretty much what happens with guys that hunt here, they just keep going back! It is that great of a hunt. I'm not even going to send for anymore elk and sheep tags because I'm for sure going next year. If I had another week of vacation I'd schedule for this year and I'm not kidding.
On another thread someone said to go early in December, I just got back and we had no problem pushing wolves. The deeper the snow, the better is what they told me and right now (mid-Feb) is when they have the deepest snow as a rule.
One other thing, leave your varmint rifles at home! I had my 30-06 and was glad I did, these things are big and the bush is thick, I really don't think it's any place for a light rifle. Sure you can kill one with a 223 if the shots right but you would not regret taking a deer caliber rifle.
Call him right now and book this hunt, you absolutely will not be disappointed. Anyone with other questions just ask! Joe

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! I've been talking to Peter for 2 years & will be going as soon as I can get the time away. My plan was to book for late December 2008, as soon as I find out if I draw NM tags (in two weeks).

I want a Wolf somthing bad & know Peter is the guy to help me get mine!

Hi guys, no the 3rd shot was just a stab in the dark, it was way gone by that time. How we hunted was with drives. We would set up and block off a chunk of woods and the guide would follow tracks on snowshoes and push the wolf to the hunters. Peter really knows how to do this, he blocks of the escape routes different ways and you have a very good chance at a wolf. You just can't believe how hard these guys work to put a wolf in front of you, it's unreal! They really know what they're doing, you owe it to yourself to try this hunt. The hunters that come back year after year speaks for itself, as soon as I can find a 2008 calender I'm mailing a deposit! Go get a wolf! Joe

What are the costs of a hunt of this type??

Would you compare this to the same thrill etc. of Mt. Lion hunting or bear hunting?

Sounds like a gas....now if we cold get ours delisted....

Hi Guys, Doc's spot on about the $2000.00, but add a $90.00 (?) small game license and $247.66 Canadian for wolf seal . I drove 16 hours and spent another $400.00 on gas. This is really a good price for what you get, these people really work hard for you.
They said the wolves averaged 75 pounds with a big one between 90 and 100. The one I saw I'd say was easily pushing 90 pounds, these things are huge!
I've never hunted Mtn Lion or bears with dogs but that's got to be a blast. I have hunted black bear over a bait and this is a whole lot funner than that.
This is definitely a great mid-winter hunt, it was cold but I really had no problem layering gear I use for deer hunting. The best thing I used was the socks you can put 1 handwarmer in, there's a little pocket above the toes that hold 1 handwarmer, these socks worked fantastic, my toes never got really cold when I used them.
Great hunt for the money! Joe
