I can't find in canadian firearm regs limitations on ammo.Going into Sk from montana to shoot gophers.Whats the limit per gun?

No limit I'm aware of. Only one time did anyone even ask. I suppose it would depend on how much and what you intended to do with it. Meaning if you brought a really excessive amount they might question it.

What I've found post 911 is that generally speaking US rules are stricter than Canadian rules are for the most part.

Taking it into Canada is not an issue, no problem with CBSA as long as it's personal and declared.
The run is that ammunition exports need a license. That's if a retailer will sell to you.

I used to think so but was proven wrong this weekend. Between 5 hours on saturday and 5 hours on sunday.Christen shot 1300 rounds thru her 10/22 and i shot 700 rnds thru my cz 452 22 magnum. We only moved inside a 40 ac pasture,60 yds was a long shot.Crazy! Shoot one & others would run over to eat fresh meat.I used to shoot them like this in the early 80's but more ranchers use poison now.

Well if your talking .22 rimfire I don't think they would blink an eye at the border. Just tell them what you're up too when you declare the firearm.

By the way download the forms off the Canadian customs website, fill out but do not sign (follow the directions). It only takes a few minutes then to process you through the border.

Your own USA Government has an opinion on this, not so much the Canadian government. There are limits to "exports" of ammunition, but not sure how that affects a USA citizen.
