Is my double barrel 9.3 x 74R rifle
Legal to hunt spring black bear in Quebec in 2023 ? I've heard that they have made more gun restrictions.. I'm a non resident hunter
Thanks, Bob

Haven't seen anything to make believe it is on the ban list.

But I haven't read the whole 1500 plus firearms on it. Plus the definitions that might make it so.

Heck they put the Ruger NO.1 there because there is one chambered in 460wby.

The order isn't law yet the debate on passing the law is on going.

It is only a guess how it will turn out and what well end up on it.

It's getting pretty ridiculous...
I used to travel to Quebec every year for moose and bear hunting and also hunt snow geese ..

I'm not sure my old browning A5 shotgun is legal for geese anymore

It's a shame what these politicians are doing to our sport.. When will this nonsense end !!

some models have been singled out because someone, at some time, made one in 460 wby.
What make is it?
Keep in mind that this law has not been passed yet and has now been pushed back until more consultations are done with user groups in the spring.

The list is incredibly long and it is absolutely ridiculous in how some seem to have been selected. It appears that all Weatherby Mk V's are on it, again due to the fact that some are chambered for te .460 Wby. I could be wrong, but I believe I saw the Heym bolt-action listed as well as the Heym 88B double. If that is the case then they may use that as a way to ban all doubles, if this BS passes. I am hopeful that this bill will be changed as their is a huge uproar over it...as there should be. That said I do not put anything past the Liberals as they are a lying bunch of assh***s.

Not ASSES communist's that want total control.

A ban on all guns and as much hunting as they can get away with.

hello Bob,

that has been a while since i left quebec but as they re different on everything check with your outfitter to make sure all the paper for your firearm are in order. they have their own gun registry that may impact you too ...

please do not sign the federal/rcmp paper for your gun before the cbsa officer (canadian custom) is telling you so.

you still have time but as Kelly mentionned we do not know what is next.

on another note the 9.3x74r is a great caliber for canada.

There are a number of doubles on the ban list, Searcy and Heym are the only ones I found. Chapuis and others were left off, that doesn’t mean they won’t be added. The list is a long one that was arbitrarily put together. It would seem a bit of a gamble bringing any rifle into Canada if this bill passes. Too many great places in the U.S. to hunt Black Bear IMO.

Thanks for the info guys .
It sure is a confusing issue at this time ..
I would hate to drive up to the border and get turned around because my rifle wasn't legal..

Crazy that they would ban all weatherby rifles, because they made one in 460 ..

Their goal is to ban all firearms.

So any reason is reason enough.

That is the ugly and fascistic truth, these Liberals are led by a person whose father openly made pro-Nazi, speeches during the 1930s and early 1940s, so, what do you expect?
