Gentlemen, I bought a musk ox hunt at the local SCI banquet this past Saturday. I haven't been to the Arctic before, so it will be a grand adventure and I'm looking forward to it. I have the option of the following dates, all in the Spring of 2008. Mar.16 - 21; Mar.23 - 28; Mar.30 - Apr.4; Apr.6 - 11; Apr.11 - 16. All dates are currentyl open. Jerome Knapp, Canada North states that it really doesn't matter and they have had 100% success rate for several years. Question is - any opinions or first had experience from you guys (or gals). I only assume the later the season the less likely to meet bad weather. However, we've gotten some real dandy April blizzards in Montana. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Thats a good question. Unfortunately, its about 10 degrees north of my field of "expertise". We have some members from Yellowknife and Whitehorse though...they might have some arctic experience. Hopefully they can help you out. Cheers, Canuck

I went up to Victoria on a "combo" hunt in 2003. I hunted Musk ox for part of the trip out of Holman. It was the last couple of days of march. Any time around then is good. There are multitudes of ox. Not much of a hunt but it is an amazing experience and I enjoyed it.

I am headed to Yellow Knife for BarrenGround Muskox Mar 23-28 with Fred Webb in 2008. Fred says the coaqts are prime at that time of year. As far as the weather its the Arctic. How's Billings? Down in Casper for a stint. P.M me so we can chat and compare notes.
