Next spring is our 10 year anniversary and my wife has indicated that if I can find a luxury (or very nice;-) lodge, preferably coastal, that offers a decent bear hunt and some fishing then she'd consider it for our anniversary trip!! Yup, could hardly believe my ears, but who am I to argue!

So come on guys! Surely there has to be some beautiful lodge somewhere in BC that would fit the bill..? Help a guy out.

Regards,
Scott

Thanks WestCoaster!! Hadn't thought to consider our own Chilcotin Hillbilly for black bear but I'll certainly add him to the list.

Regards,
Scott

Thanks Watson Lake! Looks very nice and might fit the bill, but do they offer any hunting or are there outfitters in the immediate area?

I hunted this place a few years ago, and had a great hunt. You are right on Caliper lake and the fishing was great. I killed a 383 lb, "weighed" black bear at 12 yards.
The 2 brothers and their wives that run the lodge are a lot of fun to be around.

I had no problems getting my guns into, and out of canada, and no problems getting the bear meat and hide out of Canada. We flew into International Falls, rented a car and drove into Canada.

It is one of my favorite bear hunts.

Nice food and nice cabins.

Darren DeLuca is a goodun for sure.
I would have mentioned him but was unsure if he had a lodge?
Seems like a lot of the Guides must book you into a hotel?
IIRC a few years ago he guided Jon Sundra to a nice bear.
Seems like hes had a few other gun/hunting writers as well.
One thing is certain right now on the Island we have a huge BBear pop.
It is no trick at all to see several bears minimum per day.
Often I have seen that many in a morning.
Island bears are known for their big noggins so taking a book Bear is a fair probability.

Last time I hunted with Darren he was utilizing a local lodge that was absolutely stunning and the food was out of this world. Ya, I'm pretty sure he doesn't have his own but he was utilizing some very high end facilities for his guests but that was a few years ago. It would be worth asking for sure.
