I am looking at booking a HIGH QUALITY caribou hunt for 2010. I have been poking around for a couple years on selecting an outfitter. I am now only days away from putting money down and Arctic Safaris looks to be the place to put it. Barry Taylor seems like a nice guy and was very patient and helpful in answering all of my questions. Since this is a LOT of cash for me and not something I will get to do very often I am eager to make the right choice. Has anyone had any personal experience with Barry's outfit? Pro's? Con's? Is the hunt still a premium hunt with the current herd numbers??? thanks!

Might want to check 09 results of outfitters. Although I have no personal expirence with the outfit you mention I know it was a poor year for Caribou this year due to herds not moving. True north only had 6-8 caribou taken for the whole season for around 60 hunters and they were not quality bulls. From other hunters I talked to all the camps had the same poor hunting as the herds were not moving south. Might be a good idea to wait and see that 2010 is not the same situation before laying down money to cruise around and see nothing. If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness." - Alberta Provincial Court Judge Demetrick
