Hello; that's kind of like asking, who is the most beatiful woman in Canada. You can only know so many and all of them can be a bit of a let down. I had my Sako done a couple of years ago by your neighbor, D. Henry, in Bentley and have no regrets. His cost was twice that of the guy north of Rocky, but in talking to him, I felt confident he knew what he was doing and I didn't mind paying it. The most beautiful woman? My wife, of course. Grizz Indeed, no human being has yet lived under conditions which, considering the prevailing climates of the past, can be regarded as normal. Chuck, first of all, what stock are you talking about, a D'Arcy "Micky" or a factory wooden handle? If, Bill is too busy or thinks he should be out hunting (the nerve of some guys!), I would call Bill MacKereth in Burns Lake, for 700s, Bill Warkentin in Kimberly for Mausers and Nobby Uno in Comox for about any pillar bedding job, except he must be over 70 and is NOT fast! Another guy I hear is REALLY good is Jim Dubell (?) in Saskabush, maybe some of the other flatlanders on here will know. The other option is to just do it yourself, I have done lots of Winchesters, Mausers and other bolt guns; it is picky work, but, not rocket science.....if I can do it, anybody can!

I had a custom barrel made in 308 Norma mag by Rick Timmons of Alberta Tactical Rifle in Calgary! He did a wonderful job and produced a tack driver!

Chuck, Bill Leeper in Elko has done some bedding for me. His work is impeccible. He's a bit busy of late, apparently. He's worth calling though...might be able to fit you in. Kutenay, Bill Warkentin does some nice work, eh? I am impressed by his collection. I've never seen rifles stacked so deep in my life. Cheers, Canuck

Thanks for the info. I've had rifles built at Corlane and well......I'd rather it done elswere. Bill has also put stuff togethor for me but he is extremly busy. I have even done it myself. I was looking for an independent expert in pillar bedding glass stocks. Will call around and check some of these guys out. Thanks. Chuck

For pillar bedding synthetic stocks, Nobby Uno is the man to go to, but, he is quite slow and takes about a year per rifle. I have several rifles he did for me some time back, but, he is now about 72-73 and might be retired in Comox, B.C. When I last spoke with Bill McKereth, at his shop in Burns Lake, he said he was not doing anything until after this coming Xmas; he is a good guy and likes working on hunting rifles. Nobby really prefers benchrest and target rifles, but, he can do bedding with the best, he is also a nice guy. Personally, I consider pillar bedding a waste of time in most hunting rifles, but, each to his own. If, you are using a Micky or Rimrock stock, I see no advantage to metal pillars and I actually won't use any other stocks now.

I think I saw Nobby at the Calgary guns show a couple years ago. I heard he was still doing work anyway. Canuck

One more suggestion, Chuck, get ahold of Free Miner on this forum, he is a friend of mine and even goes hunting with me (and survives!); he is a competitive high-power rifle shooter and knows all sorts of 'smiths, famous and otherwise, who can do top work. I am pretty much finished with buying/building rifles and have actually sold off several this past year, so, FM is more up to date on what is happening.
