Sad news, especially during the holiday season. My prayers are with his family. I enjoyed alot of his articles, and he will be sorely missed. I was lucky to meet Ian several times at the range. He was always very interesting to talk with. A great source of knowledge regarding rifles and hunting. Never a man tell another what to do but always ready to provide help in a friendly manner. ******************************************** pssst America, your vulnerability is showing.

Very sad, I enjoyed his articles. At least he managed to get to Africa and Alaska somewhat recently... 375 Ruger- The NEW KING of the .375's!!

I was very sad to hear the news of Ian passing away. What is a very odd circumstance in my life is that about a year and a half ago, I decided to take a trip to Sask. outside of hunting season to spend a week with my parents. The reason being is, any time I would go there I spent all my time hunting and with my hunting buds. This time I told no one that I was there but my mom and dad. I made one exception. I called Ian and we went south to the bad lands and did some long range shooting for a day. It was the last time I saw Ian and the last time I saw my father. At the time, I expected I would see them both for a long time to come. I still do not know what motivated me to make that trip but it has become one of the best trips of my life. Ian and I were not good buddies or close friends. We knew each other.... we were acquaintances, that's all, but Ian treated me like a close friend. I would call him from the Yukon and he would be away on a hunt somewhere....and I would leave a message with his wife,"Tell Ian to call Daryl when he gets back" and he would always call. I always enjoyed our conversations and I learned a lot from Ian. The point is... Ian was a very knowledgeable man, very well connected in the gun/hunting world and he treated everyone who loved hunting, guns and the outdoors like a close friend. He was very generous and he did not have to be. He always had time for everyone. Ian was also a very dedicated family man and I remember him being very excited about his new grandson. From my point of view, Ian lived life to the fullest and was a very interesting, generous, and unselfish man. Ian left a lasting impression on me.... I... or we lost a good friend. Daryl Dimen
