How is the Peace River hunting been for Whitetail this season? I leave this weekend for the Peace River area for a hunt.

There has been a few nice bucks taken so far by some residents and by some hunters from the USA. There has been a few high 170's, a 190, and a couple 200's taken in rifle season, and a few dandies during archery. Some awesome 200+ Mulies taken also. Last Witetail was scored 205 by a local resident. I haven't seen the pic, but know of the person that shot the buck. The rut should be in full swing right away. On the past weekend I seen alot more fresh rubs and new scrapes when I was out elk hunting near Peace River. A friend of mine is a guide; I'll talk to him today and see whats being seen, if the bucks are roaming. Who you coming up to hunt with TexasHunter? Good luck on your hunt for a trophy Alberta whitetail!

You should hit it perfect. Scott has some pretty sweet pieces of property with tower stands, and access to others. Weather was cold with about 14" snow. It warmed up yesterday and rained, but turned cold last night and got more snow. Hopefully the weather remains cold for you to keep the buck movement high. Good luck again!

Mighty Peace - it was cold as hell, but what an awesome experience. The day the windchill was a -46C in Manning (where I was hunting - it was tough tough to stay focused and in the stand.) The camp I was in killed some real studs - 2 over 180 and numerous in the 160's. I hit a big typical, but after 1/2 mile of tracking the blood gave out in the bush. Very dissappointing, but I did get a 162 3/8 mainframe 10pt with a number of kickers. It was a great hunt - hope to go back soon!

Congrats TexasHunter on your Alberta hunt! Too bad couldn't find the first buck. Yes it was really cold. I missed Nov 22-28 as I was away at a conference in Jasper. A buddy of mine that was guiding at the time said it sure was cold, and the guys went thru propane for the heaters in the stands. He also said the game movement slowed down which was surprising. When I got back from the conference, my wife and I went out on the last day (Nov.30), and she got her first ever bull moose. I was proud of her. Just think about your next trip up for an Alberta Whitetail! BRRRRRRRRRRRR - LOL. It may be alot warmer. The past 3 seasons were very mild, so we were due for a cold Nov. Congrats again.
