Went quading about 50 miles south of Peace River on the August long weekend and did over 100 miles in the bush. I've been hunting there for about 25 years and the winter kill there wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. There was plenty of deer tracks 10 miles back in the bush with a fair number of fawn and big buck tracks. A good friend lives there and he said they got one and a half inches of rain in January which knocked the snow down from 2+ feet to 6 inches. He tells me that Peace River north never got warm enough for the precipitation to turn to rain and ended with a pile more snow. I hear the winter kill there is really bad. Hope this helps.

I live in the Peace Region-Peace River specifically. Last couple years winter has been harse with lots of snow (3'+ AVG).

I have not seen the number of 190+ mulies and whitetails as back in 2004-2010.....therefore I "999'd" my Mulie buck draw and will apply for it next year and should get it.

Not to scare you, there are still deer, elk, moose, bears, etc, but IMO the number of good-sized deer has dropped.
