I would argue that the American herds have had more disease problems than those in Canada. Canada is doing more testing of beef than the US. There have been reports of American cattle showing symtoms of BSE that have been turned away rather than have the tests done. Sort of Shoot, Shovel and Shut up. Even the case of the one cow supposedly from Alberta that tested positive in the US has a few questions attached. The registered face pattern of this animal did not match that of any animal slaughtered at that plant durring the time in question. Ear tags or DNA samples can be swapped after the fact. Even if it was the same animal did the cow contract the disease in Canada or durring its stay in the US? If it is a problem in Canada why has extensive testing failled to find any other contamination?
As for hunting giving cows BSE I hope that is a weak attempt at humour on your part. The more serious question would be why are game animals, which show a far higher incidence of CWD ( the deer families version) allowed in while cattle are banned? If hunters have been able to get import regulations adjusted to allow these imports maybe they should work to allow the farmers and ranchers on whose land they want access to make a living.

I am a native-born Canadian whose family has lived in Canada and the USA since well before the American Revolution. I do not always agree with US foreign policy ( or Canadian) but, that has zip to do with how I feel about Yanks as individuals. As far as I am concerned, Americans are always welcome in Canada and that is that!

This whole thread is taking on an anti-American tone that is far too prevalent north of thhe 49th; it sounds like that dipshit Liberal bitch from the Liberal Party of Canada, the very same bunch who brought us our current gun laws.

We have periodic disagreements and need to develope better methods of resolving those, beef, softwood or access to the Canadian NorthWest Passage, BUT, we need each other and gratuitous insults are just bullshit, IMO. After all, many if not most of us have relatives on BOTH sides of the border.

We also need to concentrate on better wildlife management here in Canada, including an end to Aboriginal special priviliges, then there will be better hunting for all of us which is what I want to see. Let people do as they please with their private property, but, attacking American hunters in Canada will NOT do sweet f___k all to assist farmers-ranchers in any province.

The more I think about it the stupider this gets. Canadian cattle indusrty can't sell it's cattle because border is closed by Americans. So the logical thing to do is.... attack the canadian outfitting industry! Makes sense to me
