Edmonton Airport for Overnight

In booking flights to NWT in Sept I find that connecting flights through Edmonton both going and coming will require 6-7 hour stay and I am questioning the need to leave airport for hotel and come back in that short period of time. Both will be during the night.

How is the airport for rolling out your sleeping bag?

Muygrande, I have a similar iten for my Aug trip. I am over-nighting in Edmonton on the way to Norman Wells at the Nisku Inn which is a mile from the airport.

On the way back, I have a 6hr layover in Edmonton prior to a 12:30am flight back. I too would be curious if there is anything to do close-by to break this up a bit.

Some hotels are located just minutes from the airport, just take a shuttle over to them. The shuttle transfer I believe is free. I know for a fact that there is a Holiday Inn Express and also the Royal Inn. Just look under the town of Nisku for hotels. You should be able to call Holiday Inn's 1-800 # for all their hotels and book it that way. As I said again, the hotel is located in Nisku, Alberta.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your hunt!

Nisku is on the other side of the freeway from the airport, the shuttles can take you there. They used to not care much about people sacked out, but with all the new security, I think they would get a little bent nowdays. FWIW - dan

I stayed at the Nisku in 2004. It served its purpose. Nothing extra. I couldn't figure out a thing to do in Edmonton.

I arrived a day after a flood and the roof of a major mall had collapsed as I recall.

I stayed there going both ways. I went on to Norman Wells. Say hello to the Polar Bear in the Yellowknife lobby for me.

Well, it looks like the Nisku Inn is a right popular hangout! Does it have a bar and what are the hours in Edmonton for libation?

I will be telling Mr Bear howdy for you from the Lone Star State.

Yes the Nisku Inn has a bar. Its usually a pretty good time in there during hunting season, as the majority of people staying there are Hunters from Sept-Nov. So the cameraderie in the Bar is excellent, everyone is relating stories and such. Its only about a 2 minute ride from the airport, and yes there is a shuttle, and its free!

The royal Executive is a better hotel than the Nisku Inn. Evertyime we fly out of Edmonton, we stay there the night before, they let us park for free while we are gone.
