I know handguns are illegal in Canada. Are blackpowder pistols also included in this?

Huh? Pistols are not illegal in Canada. You just cannot hunt with them, black powder or otherwise.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Sorry I got it mixed up. Now it is clear to me.
So now I have another question. Can non-citizens bring them into the country? I don't want to just wondering.

Short answer: It depends, but then there is also an ATT ( autorization to transport) needed and you must be going to an approved shooting event and have a letter of invitatation also.

The Canadian firearms center has a lot of info online and a toll free number to help answer questions
