Hey, anybody going to the Outdoor Hockey Game in Edmonton? Hockey outside, on the ice? What a cool idea. Why didn't anybody think of that one before?

When I was growing up Mickey, that was the only way. I won't be going, but I have friends that are. There are still tickets available, according to the Edmonton Journal yesterday. - Dan

Anybody going to the (indoor) speedskating sprint worldcup match Dec 6/7 in Calgary? I think ever since they build the indoor ring in Heereveen, The Netherlands, speedskating has not been the same. Ot was the olympic Oval built before that...ah, whatever...no more heroic pictures of skaters making their laps in a blizzard. Frans

Like Dan said, it used to all be outdoors. When I was a kid in Taylor B.C. that was about the only form of entertainment and it was all outside. It was damn cold at -25F. I heard on the news that the NHL players are wanting to call off the game because at -20 Celcius it's just too cold! One man's assessment that they are "overpaid, pampered, pansies" may not be far off the mark. Regards, Bill.

Looks like the oldtimers game was a success. Oilers beat the Habs. All the old players said they had a great time, and the crowds seemed to love it too (even though it was -30 C with the wind chill, -20 without). Don Cherry was yipping about frozen fingers and groin injuries, as well as the poor fellows having to spend time in the penalty box in this weather. All in all, it was a great game, and everyone had a good time. - Dan
