The latest on the Liberal/NDP gun bans up here in my beloved Canada. The SOB's have now put forth that semi automatic centerfires with clips will also be banned along with Mark 5 Weatherbys, and Ruger #1's.

This is along with the freeze and ultimate banning of handguns and a couple of thousand types of 'assault rifles,' including SKS and even Garands.

Hundreds more than what was stated earlier.

I fear that this will be the new Canadian version of the Alamo.

Scruffy......yes the Liberals are nothing but a bunch of lying, backstabbing, assholes. Why is that even amongst hunters and shooters they just can't seem to see where this is heading?

The ban on some of the bolt-actions, like the Weatherby's will draw a lot of attention now. It is ridiculous and shows what a pack of morons our politicians are...the listing of these bolt-actions and single shots Ruger #1's is due to the fact that some are chambered in Weatherby offerings that exceed the magical 10,000 joules they have deemed to be prohibited. They also have the 1908 Argentine Mauser on it as well, no doubt due to a custom rifle built on one in a hard hitting cartridge.

You are lucky you are in Alberta as they will fight it. My wife and I decided months ago we are going to move back to Alberta and kiss BC goodbye due to the NDP and Liberal parties being on board with all of this.

Glad to hear some of you are standing up against this insanity. I just returned from BC and sadly it seems that people are just resigned to the fact it's inevitable.

I wish you luck in ousting the self-serving idiot liberals in the big cities that are able to tell someone 1000s of miles away in the wilderness what they can and can't do. I hope we are able to stop it here in the US but the idiots will never understand the real reason there's a mass shooting every week now: the divisiveness and anger the progressive liberals themselves are fomenting!

In all reality the type of rifle doesn't matter to them.

As their goal is to ban all firearms

p dog....you are absolutely correct, that is the ultimate goal of the Liberal party and the NDP are playing along and keeping the Liberals in power. It was pretty easy to see what was coming as Trudeau and his minions were studying the "gun control" regulations implemented in Australia and New Zealand.

Has to do with the foot pounds of energy that the larger calibers generate.

Can not have calibers that are air plane killers you know.

There is no logic in gun control just hate and the need to be more powerful and controlling.

Charlie they are Liberals...logic is virtually nonexistent. All about power and control of the masses. The Liberals, and Trudeau in particular, buy into WEF and the UN plans for one global government. Trudeau is busy showing the world how 'woke' he is, and angling for some sort of UN position after he finally gets his ass kicked out of government. It cannot happen soon enough.

So if a particular make and model of rifle was ever chambered in one of these super-evil calibers, the entire make and model is banned? Not just the ones in the super-evil calibers?

Sounds like it.

Get rid of hunting self-defense and any other reason one needs to own one.

Their goal is to ban all firearms

Here is a great video by a Canadian lawyer explaining why.

West Texas in that Ft. Davis area is where I would go if I moved south of the 49th. No doubt about it.

Good thing you Canadians don't have grizzlies, polar bears or wolves to worry about.

And "for how long" is a very good point Phil! Pressure is on, even in the territories to do away with the grizzly hunts. We lost the grizzly hunt in Alberta, and even though they now have a handle on the number of grizzlies in the province, and know the population is expanding and bears are showing up out in the prairies...it has not reopened.

In BC they closed the whole province and in Canada, BC was the main province for grizzly hunts as far as bear numbers and availability through a large number of outfitters with grizzly quota. The push in BC to take more and more land out of the picture for hunting, logging, etc. will never end and the chance of grizzly opening with a change of government is unlikely. Maybe it will reopen, but I doubt it.

So at this point the only places to hunt grizzly in Canada are the Yukon and the few licenses that are given up for barren-ground grizzly outfitted hunts by the indigenous hunter/trapper organization in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

The Inuit and Dene will continue to do what they want, but politicians in the Yukon...if the pressure gets strong enough they may fold. I hope not, but will not be surprised.
