An old man approached 24 Sussex Drive. He spoke to the guard and said, "I'd like to go inside and meet with Prime Minister Martin." The guard looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Martin is no longer Prime Minister and no longer resides here." The old man said, "Okay" and walked away. The following day, the same man approached 24 Sussex and said to the same guard, "I would like to go in and meet with Prime Minister Martin." The guard again said "Sir, Mr. Martin is no longer Prime Minister and no longer resides here." The man thanked him and again, just walked away. The third day, the same man approached 24 Sussex and spoke to the very same guard, saying "I would like to go in and meet with Prime Minister Martin." The Guard, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you've been here asking to speak to Mr. Martin. I've told you already that Mr. Martin is no longer Prime Minister and no longer resides here. Don't you understand?" The old man looked at the Guard and said, "Oh, I understand" "I just love hearing it." THE GUARD SNAPPED TO ATTENTION, SALUTED AND SAID...... "SEE YOU TOMORROW, SIR!" _________________

Oh if only it could be so! I just read in the National Post that Martin will not take action on the Gun Registry because it is popular with female voters. That only says he is counting votes, not that he's concerned with the merits of the registry. Lets send this guy packing. Give Harper a shot at it. If he does no better we'll send him packing also. Ultimately we have to get a keeper. There must be someone who can do a decent job of running this country. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

Hello guys, I have been reading your posts about election and being silence, till now. I am myself sort of speak a new Canadian. I came to this great country in 1990 from East Europe, no English, no skills, just college education and two hands ready to work. I have never been on welfare and only time I was using benefits was when they lay me off. I pay taxes like everone else and I am pissed with this government same like you. First thing which I hated, when I arrived here was how many rights people have in this country and how little (some) they care about the welfare of Canada. Those guys had Canadian citizenship, but they called them self Italian, Indian, Chinesse. Then I remember the day when I was getting my citizenship, I was so happy that finally I became Canadian, then during singing of the national anthem I had seen some guys who were turning the heads the other way to not sing. It looked like most of the citizens are on the receiving side and no on giving.I just couldn't beleive it. I made a decision to come here and become a Canadian; it wasn't easy one, because since I was a little kid, I wanted to go to USA. But now I am so proud and happy that I had made that decision, despite seeing many wrongs. Anyway, I am upset, that Lieberal government doesn't care about virtues such as country, honor and so. And let people into this country who are terrorists and who wants to use our great system. I believe when the new conservative government gonna be elected on June 28th, they gonna address this problem and bring here only people who would love to be Canadian and contribute with all the strength to make this country one of the most successful in the world. The new government should take a look at Europeans from less privilege countries like Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and so, who are educated and are easier to jam into the Canadian way of life. This my two cents, Sorry for my English, I hope Harper wins with majority and his government gonna put stop to all this nonsense created by Pierre Trudeau and other Lieberals. Peter

Glad you came to Canada Peter. I wish all immigrants were like you. Unfortunatly the only reason many come here is to take advantage of our system.

Peter, My family first came to Canada more than 300 years ago and to the USA more than 200 yrs. ago and I am an extremely nationalistic Canadian. I am also very opposed to immigration because of the large number of people I have met like the ones you mention who will not sing " Oh Canada", most of them are from certain Asian countries. You are exactly the sort of immigrant Canada needs and I am happy you came here and would welcome more young people from the nations you mention. This will not happen until we have enough Canadians who demand an end to the flood of people who come here to take advantage of the great country that Canada used to be---before the Lieberal scum traitors. If, you have any relatives in the old country, tell them that they are welcome here, as far as I am concerned. Keep up your posts, your English may not be perfect, but, by God, your heart is in the right place!

Welcome Peter: I really picked up on a couple of points. One being immigrants that continue to think of themselves as still citizens of their former homeland. Western Canada was basically settled in the last 100years. Those people were much as you describe. Wanting to become part of this nation. They became good citizens and their childern in the large part were the men and women that joined the forces to fight in the two world wars. The second point relates to this as it seems many of todays immigrants came here because it was easy. They do not want to become part of Canada but want it to become what they left. They brought all the old hatreds and plan on using their new home to keep old battles alive.

Pete, I am on the south side of the border, but in my opinion, Canada does well having gentlemen like you come and contribute to your nation. If your relatives in Eastern Europe are like the quality you are, they are welcome in the USA ! We have a lot of the same types that Kutenay and the gentleman from Sask mentioned. They do no one any good, but they sure can complain and they sure can expect a lot for not contributions to the nation they moved to. Liberals have screwed up Canada, and the same as Australia, I hate to say after reading their forum regularly also. The trend that has screwed up Canada can be blamed on the USA, and the Hillary Clintons of the world down here. Blankety Blank Democrats. Canada copies all the habits in the USA, good or bad. Unfortunately for a long time, bad is all we have to export. Spending a lot of time in Canada compared to many Americans, I have seen that Ontario seems to run the entire country. Whatever they want, they make the rest of Canada adopt to. Yet they can't bend over backwards enough Catering to Quebec. Then on the international front, Ontario always seems to be trying to keep up on trends that are going on in New York State, and then trying to exceed them. New York has one of the highest tax rates in the USA and is so close to socialism, any good communist should feel right at home. As a person that has worked for a Canadian company in the USA and a person who has travel extensively in Canada for 30 years or more, I am amazed the Western Province does not just thumb their noses at Ottawa and set up their own nation. I have no idea how any country would cater to ONE province or state the way Canada caters to Quebec. I have met a lot of good people in Quebec, but what goes on with this separatist issue is ridiculous. Seems the entire world has gone to the point of idiocy. We can only do something about it in the USA and Canada. Maybe some common sense will follow internationally. God bless you folks up there, You and those wacky Aussies and Kiwis are some of the best people on the planet. Cheers and Good shooting seafire

Peter Not long ago i worked with a Polish immigrant. I've worked witht hem before, as well as Russian, Czech and a few other "Eatern Block" types. I talked alot with them, and I asked "how do you like Canada" more as conversation than anything else. They ALL replied somehting like: Canada is wonderful. There is SO much opportunity here. I worked as a carpenter in Poland, and never made alot of money. Here, people are throwing money at me, because I do a good job (he did an excellent job) and I am willing to work hard. (Six 12 hour days in a row confirmed this) These guys did what immigrants SHOULD do. They came here and assimilated. This is not to say they completely abandoened thier old cultere, they just brought the good stuff (like the excellent Polish sausages) and left thier baggage at the door!

Gatehouse, My believe is that we shouldn't be able to have multicitizenships. We are either Canadians or residents of this country. People can't use their Canadian passport only for protection, when they need it, they should be proud of it. All new immigrants, should be scatter all over Canada, also in places like Churchill, Kenora, Prince George, Yellowknife. Take a look at Toronto, it is horrible, people cannot integrate because they live on their cultural streets, they shop in their own stores where there is no English, they go to the banks, where ATMs are in 4-5 diff languages. It is sickning. I have relatives back in old country, but some of them are to proud to come, some just can't. Our immigration system revolves around Asian immigration and Caribbean. The lawyers dictate who should or who shouldn't come. I start thinking that they like all those bad apples, because as a lawyer they can make money on them. I've watched a debate yesterday, I am glad to see Harper holding there pretty good, and that scum buck Martin barking to the camera like a panhandler asking please give me more. I hope with God help we will change our future for good. Peter
