Well I'm not positive on how it works and you can find more information at www.canadiangunnutz.com

In order for the dealer to get an export licence you have to get an Import licence. Then the Dealer can apply for an export licence and once he gets it ship the rifle to you. It takes some time and Customs will open the box and check it out most likely but it can be done.

But you can find out all about it at canadiangunnutz

Martin, you do indeed need an import permit from the Canadian side to comply with US law, which requires it to get an export permit. Clive Law in Ottawa is the man to get in touch with for this, I believe. Again, this isn't required for the Canadian side, but the guy in the US can't expoert without it. Markus is also correct that on the CGN site there are stickies that detail this procedure. If you have any other questions I can help you with, just PM me. - dan

Markus; thanks for the link, you are right I need a import permit.
I did this before when I imported my Montana action.
The problem is to find a US dealer (FFL holder) that is willing to export the gun.
The gunstore that has them won't export to Can.

So a Us FFL holder would have to buy the gun for me and than get the export (US) permit from the BATF,in order for BATF to give out this permit they want a IIG (import permit )from Canada.
If the dealer has the permit he can send the gun to the Can. importer (me or a dealer)it is a lot of fiddeling around but I just can't seem to find one in Canada.

Dan you have a PM

Regards Martin
