Why can the Dan Wesson Razorback take the 10mm when the Colt Delta Elite couldn't?

Doug,
Why do you think the Delta Elite can't handle the 10mm. I don't have one, nor have I shot one, but have heard that they are nice guns.
That said, I do have a Razorback and love it. The quality of the Dan Wessons make Kimber/Colt/Springield Armory look like garbage. The slide to frame fit is extremely tight. Much tighter than any Kimber I've handled. It shoots better than my Kimber Gold Match.

Regards,
Wes

Doug I agree with WESR. I always thought that the Colt and the S&W 4006 were the standard for the 10mm. You might try the 10mm forum on the Glocktalk website. Those guys seem to know a lot. If you are thinking of getting one, you might want to look at the EAA Witness Elite Match in 10mm. I have one and love the gun.

the colt delta had a big problem. it really wasn't made to take the sharp recoil of the 10mm and many ended up with cracked frames (i had one) the smith was made for the round and give no trouble. colts today are a POS. the dan wesson i've got is in 45 with the bobtail & I like it alot. its a well made piece. given the choice between a POS and a well made piece - well homer

I have a Delta, it's still going strong after 2000rds, but I do not feed it barn burner 10mm anymore. The S&W1006 is a beast of a pistol & it gets my full power loads. I suspect the DW is no better w/ the 10mm than the Delta. Colt just decided to stop making them vs to keep replacing them.

I shot a Delta elite abit. It didn't stand up to full house loads. Man some of the frist Norma 10mms we cronyed were running a 170 gr close to 1700. Doesn't take many of them. With mid range 10mm loads it well last.

Hey pdog, I would have that chrono checked. I shot quite a bit of original Norma 170gr, 200gr fo rthat matter, & they were not even hitting 1300fps.Eeker I seriously doubt that any load they made was breaking that.

THE problem with the original delta elite was the disposable stubby factory spring guide.

My pistol was NEVER fired with the factory piece
I installed a wilson guide rod, with double thickness
urethane shock buff pads ands a stiffer main spring

It's still going strong and I don't shoot pussy loads in it.

I still have several boxes of original Norma ammo loaded
with 200gr TCFMJ that chronographed at ~1300
