i just had to go out and buy a new gun (surprise), but anyway ATI has brought out a reproduction 1911 in 22. It's a pretty good reproduction too.

I ran a few different types of ammo through it and it digested all without a glitch, unless you count the cheap russian stuff as ammo, and then there was only 1 when it wouldn't kick the slide back far enough. accuracy wasn't bad either. the cheap federal stuff gave 1 3/8" at 50' (10 shot group). this should yield an ideal platform for you guys in IDPA,USPSA etc. my only complaint is the grip safety has to be held back really hard to function. it has the typical mag. disconnect, and windage only adjustable sights. at a MSRP of 359 you can find them for 320-340 pretty easily. The barrel is fixed with quite a gap between it and the front of the slide. One last note. the barrel appears to be threaded with a thread protector covering it. it is German made and thus i would image that some accessory such as a silencer would screw on. all in all this is one fun piece

Can't you buy a Marvel conversion for close to that price?

Looks very interesting, I have a Kimber .22 cal, 1911. It shoots very, very well and is very reliable. Frame and slide are alloy. Cost was about twice that of this tacticle .22.

yes the slide stays open. i took the thing apart and it is very much 1911, threw the mag disconnect away (its located in the mainspring housing) fixed the grip safety and knocked off another 525 round box of federals without a hiccup
