Springfield Mil Spec -- lifetime warranty, tight, well made, right price.

They're the gun issued by the armed forces, but the ejection port has been opened and lowered. The mag well is beveled.

It's "style" I carried in the service, and the first 1911 pistol I bought. Still have it, still love it, although it's not my only 1911.

The Rock Island Arsenal guns are a little rough on the finish in places, but are overall a clean looking gun. I have shot one or two with no jam ups at all, and have never had someone tell me that thiers have jammed up. Working in a gun shop i have seen a lot of them sold and never heard a complaint. If your not sure you really want one, get a well priced on like the RIA and if you fall in love, build it up or buy a higher end model later. You wont go wrong with most of the GI model guns out there from springfield or Taurus either. 1911 isn't my fav gun but they are a "must" in the gun collection!
