Anyone own one of these? I guess they were just discontinued this year. It seemed they came in 10 and 12 inch models. The 12 inch looks ridiculous to me. I would prefer an 8 inch model if they came in it. Do they shoot any good? Do you need the moon clips for extraction ( I presume you do) I own a military ww2 gun an automag and blackhawk which I enjoy shooting. I thought it was very interesting that the Taurus was an 8 shot double action revolver. Wonder why it was discontinued? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hello TBEAR99. Well my Ruger blackhawk shoots great. I had to grind down the rear sight from underneath with the dremel to get it to shoot flat. Now I cast for it and 130 grains with no gas check are real accurate believe it or not. The automag shoots the lead bullets real good too! I would have thought the raging bull with say a 6 inch barrel would be a real blast! That 8 shot cylinder sounds great wow my automag only holds 7.Everything i want lately gets discontinued. Wonder if many of the Raging bull 30s are around but that 10 inch or 12 inch barrel seems too much for me I dont shoot silhouette.

OK so got one of them too. i have the 12" one. quite accurate, comes with full moon clips which you will need since the 30 carb is rimless. To tell the truth i'm got a 30 carb auto too hidden away somewhere. kinda fun to shoot, high velocity pistol with little recoil but a bit loud.

Hey Tbear99 I put a steel dragoon gripframe on mine and the wider 44 hammerspur which makes it heavier but balances good. Also put a wolf spring on the trigger to give it about 2 to 3 lbs. I exchanged a blue 44 as my cousin wanted a stainless. I have 2 other blackhawks which Ive put stainless dragoon gripframes on. They look sharp with the rest of the gun blue! When I buff out the stainless it looks like nickel plating. Hey butchloc how accurate is the raging bull 30 at 100yds benchrested? Thanks yall I like 30 carbs

I like 30 carbs as my dad was in WW2. He carried one in a jeep in a scabbard. Also shot a huge red deer with one when the war was over! He got it right in the back vertabre or I venture to say that that deer would have been wounded with a little 110 fmj and would have ran a country mile! I have the mounted 6 point skull over my fireplace that deer could have been 200lbs easily. Thanks again PB

Hey Tbear99 Bought the gripframes from Brownells. They are the same ones you could order from Ruger directly. they need to be buffed out and fitted to your frame. Its not that bad of a job to do your self. I have a buffer I rigged up years ago from an old motor. Get the green buffing compound in a wide stick from Brownells. I saw a cool buffer at Harbor Freight a while back on sale for 30 bucks. Harbor freight has an inexpensive combo belt and disc sander on sale for $60. I used this same machine and the small disc to fit the frame to the gun. ( using fine wet dry sandpaper on the wheel. then buffed the whole frame out. I would show youall a picture but am not that computer savy yet. Believe me my 41 mag and 44 super blackhawk look great.

Sorry Tbear dont have digital camera. I know im in the dark ages. Hey ive seen this done in magazines someone else surely has done this probably on this forum. Its not that hard to do and doesnt cost that much. I did this a few years ago and I think the gripframe was about 75 bucks could be a cool hundred now. well those aluminum grip frames Ruger puts on most blackhawks make the gun look bad plus the balance is bad with most of the rest being steel. Ruger should suck up the difference and put steel gripframes on all blackhawks period! Trust me if you do it you will love it and if you like the dragoon grip you will shoot better period. good luck PB
